Chapter 1

The second time I met Liang Huaiyuan, he was still not very pleased with me.

A friend joked, “So, when are you two planning to get married?”

Liang Huaiyuan’s face darkened at once. “It’s just a blind date. Don’t talk nonsense.”

He sat down on the side farthest from me, drawing a clear line between us with his actions.

Seeing that, I made an excuse to go to the restroom, hoping to ease the awkwardness.

As I stood outside the door, I heard someone inside ask, “Meng Yusang is quite pretty. Did you have to embarrass her like that?”

“What good is being pretty?” Liang Huaiyuan said arrogantly.

“She’s just a country bumpkin who was raised in the countryside. The fact that I’m willing to meet her at all is already showing her respect.”

“But she’s still the Meng Family’s biological daughter…”

“If you like her so much, you marry her.”

His friend choked, then gave a couple of awkward laughs.

“True. Yin Boyu is your young uncle, after all. With him backing you, it’s only natural you wouldn’t be interested in Meng Yusang.”

“My uncle would never allow me to marry a girl like that.”

Liang Huaiyuan expressed his boundless admiration for his uncle.

At the same time, he made his stance clear.

“Why didn’t Meng Weiyue come? If I really had to form a marriage alliance with the Meng Family, I’d rather choose Meng Weiyue.”

Meng Weiyue was my younger sister.

I went missing when I was three. That same year, my parents adopted Meng Weiyue to ease the grief of losing their daughter.

From then on, Meng Weiyue became the Meng Family’s only daughter and enjoyed all their love and favor.

Half a year ago, the Meng Family finally acknowledged me and brought me back.

I had barely warmed my seat before I was forced to go on blind dates.

I heard my blind date was very sought-after in City A’s business circles.

After meeting him, I could see why.

On our first blind date, Liang Huaiyuan said, “In my heart, Meng Weiyue is the Meng Family’s only daughter.”

“Mm-hmm. I think so too.”

I had not lost my temper at all back then, which surprised him.

Right now, I really did not want to go back inside and face Liang Huaiyuan again.

Just then, Liang Huaiyuan looked at his phone and said, “My uncle just sent me a WeChat message. He’s here. He’s in the elevator.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the elevator doors in the corridor opened.

A tall, slender figure walked out.

His suit was perfectly tailored, and the silver buttons gave off a familiar chill.

Long time no see.

My ex-husband.

A large reason why Liang Huaiyuan was so popular was that he had a good uncle-

Yin Boyu.

The uncle was only a few years older than his nephew, so everyone called him his young uncle.

Yin Boyu was the classic noble young master of City A, born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

The Yin Family’s business empire was enormous, and Yin Boyu was the sole heir.

He was not yet thirty, but he had already shown extraordinary talent.

If people could not climb high enough to reach Yin Boyu, then getting on good terms with Liang Huaiyuan was always a safe bet.

That was what everyone knew.

What they did not know was that one year ago, Yin Boyu had been married once.

In a small southern town.

In a moment of impulse, he had registered his marriage with a woman he had known for only a month.

There was no wedding banquet, and he did not notify his family.

Half a year later, they parted on bad terms and went their separate ways.

Yin Boyu was rigid and meticulous by nature.

That was probably the most rebellious thing he had ever done in his life.

Unfortunately…

I was that ex-wife.

Yin Boyu saw me.

His steps paused slightly, and his gaze lingered on my face.

Immediately after, someone popped out from behind him.

“Sis, why are you standing by the door?”

It was Meng Weiyue. She smiled brightly.

“You were standing there, and I thought you were a waitress!”

The two of them were standing very close.

Only recently had I learned that Meng Weiyue had known Yin Boyu since she was little.

Because he was eight years older than her, Yin Boyu had always taken good care of her.

I said, “I was just about to go in. What about you? Didn’t you have final exams today?”

“I’m done! Brother Boyu came to pick me up from school.”

I gave Yin Boyu a polite smile. “Sorry to trouble you.”

“Oh, he’s not troubled at all. He’s used to it.”

Meng Weiyue pushed the door open and walked inside.

The moment she appeared, she became everyone’s darling.

She was pretty and young, and everyone favored her.

Even Mom and Dad did.

I sat down in the most remote corner.

The light did not reach me, and no one spoke to me.

The topic shifted to Yin Boyu.

“If you ask me, Liang Huaiyuan really doesn’t need to rush. President Yin isn’t even married yet, so he can definitely wait a little longer.”

Liang Huaiyuan nodded. “Exactly.”

After saying that, he gave me a somewhat disdainful glance.

“President Yin, do you have anyone in mind for marriage?”

“No.” A familiar voice sounded.

“Then are you dating anyone?”

“No.”

“President Yin seems like he’s never dated anyone even now, right?”

“Seriously? Then he’s still a vir-”

The speaker cut himself off in time and carefully watched Yin Boyu’s expression.

Thankfully, he did not get angry.

Meng Weiyue familiarly answered for him.

“You guessed right. He is. His head is full of work. How would he have time to date? Come on, don’t rub salt in the wound of someone who’s been single since birth.”

Only then did everyone breathe a sigh of relief. “You’re the only one who dares to say that.”

Meng Weiyue was about to say something else.

Suddenly, there was the sound of a glass hitting the table.

It was not loud, but it was piercing.

“Who said I still am?”

Yin Boyu abruptly spoke, his tone stiff and sharp.

Everyone fell silent and looked at him in shock.

“My youngest uncle is Yin Boyu. You’ve heard of him, right?”

My blind date asked the question with a hint of contempt.

“I have.”

“He’s...
