Chapter 4
Chapter 4
We were stranded on that storm-battered island for two days.
Day and night blurred together until I could hardly tell them apart.
It was still raining outside, while the air conditioner kept the room pleasantly cool.
Chen Mu’s face flushed all the way red when he saw me wearing his tank top. The loose shirt only came down to the tops of my thighs, swaying precariously with every step.
“It’s dirty.” I tipped my chin meaningfully in a certain direction. “Your fault.”
“I’ll go buy you a new one.”
“I don’t wear cheap stuff.”
He said nothing. He picked it up, went into the bathroom, and lowered his head to wash it clean for me.
Chen Mu’s hands were broad, making the triangular scrap of lace look almost pitiful in his palms.
I leaned against the doorframe, took a sip of coffee, and studied him.
Last night in the dark, he had tilted his head back, his Adam’s apple taut, a bead of sweat rolling down his throat.
So gorgeous. Like a wolf. Like a statue sketched from life.
Like a premium service worth thirty thousand a night.
“Hey. Keep scrubbing and you’ll ruin it.”
He lowered his head, washed it clean, dried it, and handed it back to me.
“About last night… I’m sorry.” After a stretch of silence, Chen Mu said, “I’ll take responsibility. Do you want to start with dating first and-”
“No. That’s disgusting.”
He stared at me in shock.
“You were drugged yesterday too. You’re also a victim…”
Before I could finish, my phone rang.
It was a video call.
Gu Ming’s face on the screen was ashen. Behind him, the bed was a mess, and I could faintly hear a woman crying. It sounded like Yang Yuzhi.
“Xia Li! You drugged me?”
“Yep. Did you have fun?”
When he got a clear look at the man’s tank top I was wearing-and the strong arm beside me-Gu Ming exploded.
“Xia Li, where the hell are you right now?”
“In a man’s arms. I got worn out yesterday, so I’m hanging up. Love you.”
After hearing that I was the one who had drugged him, Chen Mu’s expression turned truly ugly.
“I reaped what I sowed. Do you still want to take responsibility?”
I thought he was going to curse me out. Instead, his gaze sank, calm and dark as deep water.
“I do.”
“Stop joking. If it hadn’t been you, it would have been someone else. I just picked up the wrong business card, that’s all.”
I placed the bank card Chen Mu had given me yesterday on the edge of the bed.
“Three thousand for one night. You’re worth that much.”
Chen Mu’s face twisted to its ugliest yet. His lips moved, but for a long time, he still couldn’t say those two words.
Bad seed.
“Brother Chen Mu, if you feel like you took advantage of me and want to make it up to me somehow…”
I leaned close to his ear.
He really was like a wolf-his ears sharp, sensitive, and vulnerable.
“Then don’t raise your rates, okay?”

Chen Mu hated me.
Because I bullied and framed his precious childhood sweetheart.
Again and again, he saw through my schemes with cold eyes and watched me reap what I had sown.
