Chapter 2

“Xia Li, have you lost your mind? Just try laying a finger on her. I dare you.”

It was a call from my fiancé, Gu Ming.

“When you put it that way, it only makes me want to try even more.”

That had happened six months ago. Yang Yuzhi, an intern who’d joined our company, had climbed into my fiancé Gu Ming’s bed.

Sobbing pitifully, Yang Yuzhi said that the one who wasn’t loved was the real homewrecker.

The moment I grabbed her by the hair, I awakened.

Gu Ming was the domineering CEO male lead. Yang Yuzhi was the delicate little white-flower heroine. Chen Mu was her protective older-brother figure, her guardian angel.

And I was nothing but the vicious supporting female character.

The vicious supporting female character who would die if the male lead didn’t choose her.

The vicious supporting female’s bullying and drugging schemes would all be exposed by Chen Mu. On the day the male and female leads got married, I would be drugged on the street, tortured, and left to die.

I had four months left to live.

Logically speaking, if I wanted to survive, I should have started winning Gu Ming over.

I did want to live. But not in such a humiliating way.

I might as well get my revenge first, then die.

“Congratulations.” I raised my champagne flute and clinked glasses with Gu Ming.

Beneath the ten-meter-tall crystal chandelier, Yang Yuzhi hid timidly behind Gu Ming in a little white dress. As for me, I wore a flamboyant red velvet slip dress, every strand of my hair catching the light with a dazzling, aggressive gleam. I looked every inch the villain.

Gu Ming didn’t dare drink the glass I handed him.

I smiled, swapped our two glasses, tipped my head back, and drained mine in one go.

“Mr. Gu, once you drink this, we’ll let bygones be bygones. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness together.”

Only after seeing me drink did Gu Ming relax and empty his glass. He looked at me with guilt in his eyes.

“I’m sorry, Xia Li. But you know love can’t be helped.”

“It’s fine.”

I watched him drink that glass.

It was drugged, just like mine.

Yang Yuzhi was despicable, of course. But the traitor deserved to die even more.

In a little while, Gu Ming would humiliate himself in front of a crowd of business tycoons. Just thinking about it felt satisfying.

Clinging to the last shred of awareness, I returned to the hotel and felt around in my bag for the business card from Baima Club.

Last time, I’d had my eye on a tanned, wolf-dog type college athlete. I remembered putting the card in my bag.

My consciousness was getting hazy. Squinting at the card, I made the call.

“What do you mean, the car broke down? Yeah, my car broke down.

“Mm-hmm. Xingchen Hotel, presidential suite. The staff will bring you up.”

In my muddled state, I thought: service at clubs these days really was thorough. They even knew my car had broken down.

I’d just showered. My hair was still damp when I opened the door.

One meter eighty-five. A baseball cap pulled low over his brow.

Wheat-colored skin, firm muscles, and beneath his tank top, the faint outline of a slutty little waist.

I hooked my arms around his neck, kissed him, and pushed the door shut behind him.

He finally managed to pry my hands off, but then seemed to decide I was too restless. He simply pinned me against the wall, one large hand easily pressing both my wrists above my head.

I was kissing him in a daze when he suddenly restrained me like that. Annoyed, I looked up at him.

Only then did I see the face beneath the brim of the cap.

It was none other than Chen Mu, holding a toolbox. His body was stiff, his face flushed bright red.

“…Xia Li, where’s your car?”

Chen Mu hated me.

Because I bullied and framed his precious childhood sweetheart.

Again and again, he saw through my schemes with cold eyes and watched me reap what I had sown.
