Chapter 1

The moment I stepped out of my command tent, this was the scene that met my eyes.

A group of burly soldiers had formed a circle, looking both curious and bewildered as they sized up the little creature who had suddenly appeared in their midst.

In the center sat a small child atop a pony. Her chubby cheeks were flushed a bright red, bitten by the harsh winds of the Frontier.

She wore a thick, somewhat worn padded coat, making her look like a little dumpling.

At that moment, she was waving a small riding crop back and forth, her wide eyes filled with a mixture of fear and defiance.

“Don’t you dare come any closer!”

“Song Yunying is my mother! If you dare bully me, you’re all finished!”

The surrounding soldiers instantly turned their heads in unison to look at me, their jaws nearly hitting the ground.

Me: “…”

I am Song Yunying.

Beside me, a messenger stammered excitedly, “Gen-General… you certainly kept this well-hidden. When did we get a niece? Good grief, why didn’t you say so sooner!”

I swatted him aside with a single palm and stepped forward.

The crowd instinctively parted to make a path for me.

The little girl craned her neck to look at me.

What she saw was a woman clad in armor, her face cold and radiating a murderous aura. With every step I took, the clanking of my iron plates sounded ominous.

She swallowed hard.

Finally, she seemed a little afraid.

Clinging to her pony, she shouted, “Don’t come over here! Mother! I’m looking for my mother, Song Yunying! I want Song Yunying!”

“My mother is a Great General, she’s incredibly powerful! If she finds out you’re bullying me, she won’t let you off!”

I reached out, grabbed her by the back of her collar, and hoisted her up.

My expression remained impassive, my voice cold as I addressed the dumpling in my hand.

“I am Song Yunying.”

But since when did I have a daughter?

For generations, the Song Family had been loyal to the throne and the country. Whether sons or daughters, every member donned armor and took to the battlefield.

Almost none of them had met a peaceful end; one could say the entire house was filled with martyrs.

Outsiders often remarked that the yellow dust of the Frontier had practically become the Song Family’s graveyard.

In the end, only the youngest daughter remained: Song Yunying.

And this youngest daughter was no delicate, easily bullied, or gentle lady.

On the contrary, she seemed to have inherited the ruthlessness of her entire clan. She was cold, emotionless, and had killed more people than she could count.

Once she mobilized her troops, she would burn and kill until everything was razed, leaving no one alive.

Consequently, during her decades guarding the Frontier, even the habitually fierce Barbarians had been beaten into submission, choosing to avoid her at all costs.

They were right; I truly left no survivors.

Not just for the Barbarians-anyone who deceived me or offended me would be flayed, their bones crushed, and their flesh torn apart.

So, I ask you, what kind of person would dare get close to a woman like me?

Let alone have a child.

Yet now, a little milk-dumpling had suddenly appeared, loudly proclaiming to my entire army that she was my own flesh and blood.

I raised an eyebrow-a precursor to my anger.

If she couldn’t give me a valid reason, it wouldn’t matter how pitiful or cute she looked.

I would have to deal with her severely.

I waited for her to burst into tears. After all, who in this world didn’t keep their distance from me out of fear?

With so much blood on my hands, I was known as the Living Rakshasa.

And indeed, that seemed to be the case.

Hearing my words, the little girl turned her head blankly to look at me. Her pudgy cheeks trembled.

She sniffled.

I let out a cold sneer, feeling no disappointment-I had long since stopped feeling such things.

Bored, I prepared to toss her to my Deputy General.

“Make her shut up. I can’t stand the noise.”

But in the next second, my thigh was gripped tightly. The little child sobbed loudly:

“Mother! Suisui finally found Mother! Does Mother not want Suisui anymore?”

My back stiffened.

I once saved a pregnant noblewoman. She smiled and told me that once the child was born, they would recognize me as their godmother.

But later, as I led my troops to station at the border,...
