Chapter 3

The System was excited for ages.

“We got a perfect score on our first plot point!

“This is my first time ever getting full marks! Holy carp!

“As long as we get through three more plot points and save up 100 points, we can happily come back to life!”

The System was happy, and that made me happy too.

In Yunyuan’s arms, I tugged the corners of my bloodless lips upward.

“Okay.”

The next instant, everything shook violently.

A massive kun swam over and smashed the water prison open with a sweep of its tail.

This was the female lead of the original novel, Mo Yao. She had come to break him out of prison.

At the sight of Yunyuan, Mo Yao transformed into human form.

She wore a high ponytail and a black fitted outfit, her style androgynous and dashing.

“Dragon Lord, this subordinate arrived too late.”

Mo Yao shot me a vicious glare.

“This demoness has reduced the Dragon Lord to such a state. Now that she has been captured, Dragon Lord, you must not soften your heart.”

A silver-white longsword formed in her hand, and she moved as if to stab me to death.

Instinctively, I tried to run, but my mermaid tail was injured, so I was terribly slow.

It felt like I had run into a ghost wall. No matter how I swam, I stayed in the same place.

The System couldn’t help reminding me,

“Stop wriggling. The male lead grabbed you by the back of the neck ages ago.”

Yunyuan pinched the nape of my neck and lifted me up, then tucked me back into his arms with one hand.

With a sweep of his other sleeve, he blocked Mo Yao’s longsword.

“Bring Xiruo back to Dragon Valley first.”

Mo Yao assumed he intended to use me as a hostage in negotiations with the Merfolk King, a bargaining chip to keep the Merfolk King in check.

She nodded and said, “As you command.”

On the road,

Yunyuan revealed his black dragon form. He placed me on his back and shielded me with his dorsal fin.

Many dragon scales had already grown across his body, but his dragon horns had yet to emerge.

He needed to go to Dragon Valley to absorb spiritual energy and break through the Dragon Transformation.

The System’s tone was full of confusion.

“In the original plot, this is where the male lead ties you to his dragon tail and drags you back. Why are you riding on his back now?

“I even bought you sensory-blocking medicine just now. How did the plot change again? Damn it, those points were wasted.”

Hearing the System say that, I felt pained for its expenses too.

I gently tugged Yunyuan’s dorsal fin.

Yunyuan looked back.

“What is it?”

I said timidly,

“Can you… drag me instead?”

Yunyuan instantly turned his head back around. His dragon body faintly flushed red, and even his words came out stammered.

“Princess, I… I understand your feelings.”

His voice grew quieter and quieter.

“But some things need not be rushed.”

I didn’t understand what Yunyuan meant, so I asked the System for help.

But the System wasn’t listening at all.

“This black dragon’s true form looks pretty fierce, so why’s he turning pink after swimming such a short distance? How girly.

“What, is the seawater burning his claws?”

Yunyuan did indeed seem to have been burned by something. He swam even faster.

Afraid I would fall off, I gripped Yunyuan’s dorsal fin even tighter, hugging it close against my chest.

The next second, Yunyuan slammed straight into a coral reef.

The System let out a wicked cackle.

“Whoa. Guess the seawater burned his brain.”

I transmigrated into a Merfolk Princess who burst into tears at the drop of a hat.

The System wanted me to bully the brooding villain before his Dragon Transformation.

I swam up to...
