Chapter 2
Chapter 2
The System said that in the original plot, Merfolk Princess Xiruo had used every kind of torture imaginable, yet still failed to pry off Yunyuan’s Heart-Protecting Scale.
But she had inflicted quite a bit of damage on Yunyuan and pushed his hatred value to the peak.
“It couldn’t be pulled off in the first place.
“But I feel like something’s missing. Let me check the panel again.
“Found it. This scene needs blood splatter before it counts as complete.”
The System started giving me advice.
“Go over there and slap him until he coughs blood.
“No, use your fishtail. Getting slapped with a fishtail hurts like hell.”
I hadn’t been here long and still wasn’t used to having a tail.
When I heard I had to hit someone, my tail trembled in fear.
I didn’t want to hurt Yunyuan anymore. It wasn’t his fault he had grown dragon scales.
But I didn’t dare make the System angry either.
Like a seahorse, I awkwardly swam over to Yunyuan’s side.
With great effort, I lifted my broad tail fin and swung it toward his refined, handsome profile.
My blue tail fin cut through the water, but when it landed on Yunyuan’s face, it only barely brushed past his temple.
Yunyuan’s eyes flickered faintly. Seeing what I was doing, his face filled with astonishment.
The System sounded like it wanted to jab me in the forehead while scolding me.
“Are you wiping his sweat for him, girl? Why not use a feather fan while you’re at it?
“Are you afraid he’ll catch a chill?
“Can you be a little more reliable? Can you or can’t you? Give me a straight answer.”
Tears in my eyes, I nodded.
Biting my lip, I swam farther away from Yunyuan.
The System asked impatiently, “What are you doing now?”
I caught a handful of pearls and said in a small voice,
“I want to get a running start… no, a swimming start. That way I’ll have more force.”
“So you do have a brain. Go on, then.”
I locked onto my target, swung my tail with all my might, and swam toward Yunyuan.
Just as I was about to reach him, the System let out a shrill explosion in my head.
“Stahp! Stahp! I just checked- in the Merfolk world, wagging your tail at the opposite sex is freaking courtship!”
The System had only just finished speaking.
My tail had already touched Yunyuan’s lower abdomen.
The force was too great. Blood splattered all over Yunyuan.
From the side of his face to his lower abdomen, he was covered in vivid red.
It was all blood.
My blood.
My tail fin had struck the Spirit-Binding Rope and sliced it apart.
The System froze for a second, then screamed.
“Oh my god! What the heck was that? You big carp, why are you so reckless?!”
The moment the Spirit-Binding Rope snapped, Yunyuan was free.
He looked at me, his pupils dilating, his face full of disbelief.
Then, for once, panic appeared on his cold, desolate features.
He reached out and pulled me into his arms.
Dragon roars rang out without end.
Red blood kept flowing from my tail fin, like countless crimson threads wrapping around Yunyuan and me.
I had lost too much blood. The pain made me suck in a breath, and I was about to roll belly-up.
Yunyuan trembled slightly as he cradled my tail and poured spiritual energy into it.
In my daze, I asked the System,
“There was… blood splatter. Is the mission complete?”
The System roared at me in fury.
“You little dummy, blood splatter doesn’t mean splattering your own blood!”
As it spoke, it suddenly cried out in shock.
“Holy crap! The male lead’s panic value just shot to the top!”
The panel displayed the mission completion status.
Panic value: reached.
Rage value: reached.
Blood splatter volume: reached.
Panel assessment: “Mission overcompleted.”
