Chapter 11
“Long Changdong, what do you think you’re doing?”
After Liu Xun got out of the vehicle, he ran straight over to check on his cargo. He had just come around from the back when he saw Huo Yu and me standing there with swords practically drawn, and his arrogance immediately came roaring back.
“I’m telling you, don’t even think about playing any more tricks. Chen Hai told me everything. You want to steal my order? Dream on!”
I frowned at Liu Xun, having no idea what madness had seized him this time.
Shaking off his earlier sorry state, Liu Xun lifted his chin and said, “Chen Hai already messaged me in the truck. Wang Cheng did it on purpose. He and Peng You planned it all out. They crashed on purpose because they wanted to ruin my deal!”
“What the hell are you talking about?”
Wang Cheng looked utterly baffled. “It was clearly Chen Hai and Sun Guangxin who went crazy and rammed us from behind! Our truck is still right here. Their truck flipped over.”
Just then, Ren Song also came around from behind the vehicle. Hearing Wang Cheng, he blurted out in confusion, “Didn’t you guys crash into the Mount Tai Stone and flip over?”
Both Wang Cheng and Huo Yu froze.
“Mount Tai Stone?”
Wang Cheng stood there blankly, as if something had suddenly come back to him. “That’s right. We hit the Mount Tai Stone. The stone shattered…”
“Wang Cheng!” Dashun shouted.
In that instant, Wang Cheng’s body seemed to turn transparent.
Then a violent gale swept down from Huai Mountain.
The shadows of the trees swayed wildly, dust filled the air, and in the blink of an eye, nothing could be seen.
“Get in the vehicle!” I shouted, shoving Dashun toward it first.
Liu Xun and Ren Song had both fallen over the guardrail earlier, and now the wind knocked them flat.
Liu Xun was about to call for Huo Yu to pull him up, but when he looked closely, where was Huo Yu?
The houses, the trucks, Huo Yu, and Wang Cheng had all vanished.
All around them were locust trees. Dense, tangled branches whipped through the air, and the messy roots beneath their feet had already wrapped around their calves.
“Brother Long! Brother Long, save me!”
Only then did Liu Xun finally realize something was wrong.
He couldn’t get to his feet, so he could only scream desperately in my direction.
“I was wrong, Brother Long. I won’t do it again. Brother Long, save me.”
Liu Xun kept kowtowing to the ground until his forehead was split open.
In that instant, my heart really did soften.
Once, someone had begged me for help just like Liu Xun was doing now. Unfortunately, by then, it had already been too late.
But Liu Xun was still alive and breathing. Even if only for his father’s sake, I couldn’t just stand by and watch him die.
