Chapter 5
The king of Zijin Kingdom might not have been much of a person.
But we still had a quest to complete.
At my pleading, Eldest Brother agreed to take me along.
Master hesitated. “Isn’t it rather dangerous?”
I looked resolute. “Precisely because it’s dangerous, I have to go with him!
“I’m going to protect my brother!”
Eldest Brother’s gaze settled on me.
Second Brother made an outraged noise beside us. “Junior Sister, you’re far too attached to Eldest Brother!”
I blinked at him.
Ha.
If I didn’t stick to Eldest Brother, was I supposed to stick to you?
Did you understand what it meant to be the Monkey King?
The winner of the best-boyfriend poll?
The absolute pinnacle of combat power?
If I stayed with you guys, I really would get captured along with you…
Before we reached the Golden-Furred Hou’s cave, Eldest Brother caught a demon on mountain patrol and questioned him. Hearing that Queen Jinsheng wore a five-colored robe that prevented anyone from touching her, he let out a breath. “That makes things easier.”
The demon’s ears heard him, but his brain didn’t. He smirked. “However…”
He paused. His brain finally caught up. “What did you say?”
My brother smiled at him. His staff rose and fell, and the bewildered demon toppled over.
But what had he been about to say after “however”?
My brother didn’t care. With a somersault, he was at the entrance to the Golden-Furred Hou’s cave.
He looked at the doors, then kicked them open without hesitation. Borrowing his swagger, I shouted, “Queen Jinsheng, we’ve come to save you!”
Before us stood a woman of breathtaking beauty, drinking straight from wine jars with a group of demons. One foot propped on a wooden stool, she declared with magnificent abandon, “Drink! Keep drinking!
“First one to fall is a loser!”
This person.
Was human.
Was a woman.
Haha. But she definitely couldn’t be Queen Jinsheng.
Queen Jinsheng was delicate as a willow in the breeze, gentle and demure. What could she possibly have in common with this woman?
The demons froze at our entrance. In the sudden silence, wine jars clinked, and one demon whispered, “Queen Jinsheng, are they here for you?”
Fuck.
I think we’d stumbled into something weird.
Eldest Brother took one look.
He quietly shut the doors.
We stared at each other, speechless.
What we’d just seen was another dimension. A parallel universe. A hallucination in an endless void of illusion!
Whatever it was, it couldn’t be Queen Jinsheng.
We stood outside the cave, looking at each other for a while. My brother took a deep breath and finally kicked the doors open again.
“Queen Jinsheng, we’ve come to save you…” I said, with considerably less conviction.
The woman who had been standing on a stool was now up on the drinking table, proclaiming with boundless gusto, “You useless lot!
“Not one of you can hold your drink!”
…Wait.
Your Majesty.
Have you lost your mind?
