Chapter 3
To be honest, it took me a long while to process what he meant.
Because I had poor absorption and was malnourished as a child, my development was a bit slow. No matter how much I was pampered and nourished later on, I still looked younger than my peers.
So, he thought I was a minor and that I needed to inform my parents before making decisions.
What right did he have to think I was a minor?
I felt a surge of stifling frustration.
He clearly should have known that my status and his were worlds apart.
Yet he wasn’t afraid of me, nor did he revere me. He even dared to question my decisions, as if he thought I was just playing house.
When Su Wantang looked at Cheng Song, her eyes were full of respect and admiration. She looked at him as if he were her god and her creed.
Cheng Song took great pride in that.
But the way Xu Sixian looked at me was like he was looking at a little sister throwing a tantrum. He was looking down on me.
I got angry, so I abruptly lashed out and kicked him.
It wasn’t hard, but my shoe went flying.
I used to throw tantrums like this all the time. Whenever it happened, Cheng Song would usually turn and leave immediately, and everyone else was used to giving me a wide berth.
But Xu Sixian didn’t dodge.
He didn’t even move. A faint gray footprint instantly appeared on his pristine white shirt.
I froze for a few seconds, caught off guard.
“I’m the one supporting you; I don’t need to tell anyone else,” I said slowly, pulling my leg back. “So you have to listen to me. Be there whenever I call.”
He fell silent for a few seconds. To my surprise, he didn’t try to negotiate any terms. Instead, he crouched down and gently put my shoe back on for me.
“Okay.” Xu Sixian looked up at me. “I understand.”
I felt like he was sighing, but at the same time, it didn’t seem like he was.
After he left, I called for Uncle Chen.
“I had Jinji make a few sets of clothes,” I said, casually smoothing the blanket over my knees. “Help me deliver them.”
Jinji was a bespoke tailor shop that served as a status symbol throughout A City.
Ordinary families had to wait in line, but the He Family didn’t.
Uncle Chen instinctively asked, “Are they for Young Master Cheng…”
What Young Master Cheng?
I didn’t react for a moment, my mind filled only with that eyesore of a smudge on Xu Sixian’s clothes.
Didn’t he know how to dodge?
A white birch tree doesn’t look good with a black mark on it.
Uncle Chen knew me well. After catching a glimpse of my expression, he naturally switched the name: “For Mr. Xu.”
A young boy who just started university-why call him “Mr.”?
I frowned. “Don’t call him Mr. Xu. Call him…”
Uncle Chen bowed his head respectfully, waiting for my final word.
I was stuck for a long time before blabbing out, “Just call him… Little Tree!”

My fiancé had been secretly sponsoring a young girl behind my back.
As my car passed by her school, I saw the girl clutching the faded sleeve of a teenage boy, timidly calling him Brother...
