Chapter 1

By the time I learned Shao Yuhan had amnesia, an entire week had passed since his car accident.

It took the doctors a long time to stabilize him and save his life.

When his mother told me about it, her left eye was shedding tears while her right eye blazed with fury. She was a mixture of grief and indignation. “If he hadn’t been trying to find you, Yuhan would never have ended up like this!”

She said that Shao Yuhan was originally undergoing a psychotherapy session that day. When he discovered I had escaped, he immediately hopped in his car to chase after me. In a moment of mental distraction, he collided with an oncoming truck.

Luckily, his car was expensive enough, and the truck driver managed to swerve at the last second.

Otherwise, he would have had his memory wiped clean by being reincarnated.

It finally clicked.

Oh… so that was it.

No wonder he hadn’t come looking for me all these days. I thought the tracker had broken.

It resulted in me spending a whole week getting windblown on a deserted island.

I was the wife Shao Yuhan had obtained through force and coercion.

Personally, I didn’t think there was anything particularly attractive about me.

I was just an ordinary corporate drone, while he was my boss’s boss.

Thinking back, my only real interaction with him was at a cocktail party where I used a wine bottle to crack open the skull of his cousin, who was sexually harassing a female employee.

At the time, I was certain I would be fired.

The next day, however, I received a transfer order.

I was moved from that crumbling branch office to the headquarters that everyone was dying to get into.

My monthly salary tripled, and I immediately began working like a beast of burden.

Shao Yuhan also seemed to appreciate me. He always greeted me with a smile, gave me raises and promotions every other day, fired the managers who tried to make my life difficult, and helped me get rid of my persistent ex-boyfriend.

He affirmed my professional abilities and covered for all my mistakes.

The cheap cufflinks I gave him were worn on his sleeves every single day for years.

I felt blessed to be so lucky. Every day after work, I would bow to the heavens three times, grateful to have such a wonderful leader.

I was willing to work for him for the rest of my life.

Then, one time, I drank too much. In my dazed state, Shao Yuhan helped me into his car.

He let me lean against his shoulder and said softly, “Sleep. I’ll take you home.”

I have a low tolerance for alcohol, and I’d had a lot that day-enough to let me sleep until I reached my front door.

But for some reason, I woke up halfway there.

As soon as I opened my eyes, I saw Shao Yuhan secretly kissing my lips.
