Chapter 4
Chapter 4
Ever since that night, I hadn’t seen Fu Shengchao again. The butler said he’d gone on a business trip.
Good. With him gone, I was perfectly happy to have some peace and quiet.
I spent the next two days lazing around, eating and waiting for death.
On Monday evening, the butler knocked on my door.
“Miss Liang Zheng, Sir said that while he is away, you are to pick up the young master from school.”
Me: “…Fine. I’ll go.”
Mainly because An Ran was staring at me with those pleading eyes. I really couldn’t refuse.
On the way to the school, she chattered nonstop in my ear.
“Yangyang used to be so adorable. Really!”
“I used to be the one who picked him up and dropped him off. Before he went into school, he’d give me a huge hug and tell me, ‘Mom, thank you for working so hard.'”
To avoid making the driver suspicious, I didn’t respond at all.
An Ran didn’t seem to mind in the slightest.
She leaned against the car window, looking outside, seeming rather happy.
When we arrived at the school gate, I spotted Fu Zhiyang almost immediately.
The kid was just too eye-catching.
I got out and walked over. Through the crowd, I was just about to call out to him when I saw him stop a girl pushing a bicycle.
The girl had a pure, innocent look and wore her hair in a ponytail.
But her eyes were a little red.
“Tao Tao, why are you crying?” Fu Zhiyang stood in front of her and glanced down at her bike. “Why is your tire flat?”
“Then you can’t ride it, can you?”
The girl named Tao Tao bit her lip and said nothing.
Fu Zhiyang bent slightly and smiled. “How about you ride home in my car? My family’s driver will be here soon.”
An Ran wore the benevolent smile of a loving mother. “My son is so kind. Always happy to help others.”
The corner of my mouth twitched. “Kind, my ass. He’s the one who let the air out of her tire.”
“What?”
I lifted my chin. “Look at the index finger on his right hand.”
There was still black grease on it that he hadn’t washed off.
An Ran’s eyes went wide. “That little brat!”
She flew over and threw left hooks and right hooks at Fu Zhiyang’s face.
Fu Zhiyang looked up. “Why does it suddenly feel so chilly?”
I pushed through the crowd, walked over, grabbed Fu Zhiyang by the collar, and hauled him away from the girl.
Then I called the driver over and had him load the girl’s bicycle into the car.
“Classmate, I’ll have him take you home. Just give this uncle your address! Don’t be shy!”
Tao Tao was still in a daze when I pushed her into the Rolls-Royce parked by the curb.
Fu Zhiyang shot me a vicious glare. “What are you doing here?!”
Tao Tao looked over.
He instantly changed his expression, then gritted his teeth and lowered his voice. “I’ll settle this with you later.”
With that, he tried to get into the car too.
But I grabbed him by the clothes and held him back.
I shut the car door and told the driver, “Please take this young lady home.”
