Chapter 3

Lunatics!

This father and son were both lunatics!

This place was dangerous. I couldn’t stay here for long.

In just a few seconds, I made up my mind.

So I turned to An Ran and asked, “What exactly do you need my help with? Hurry up and tell me. Once I’m done helping, I’m making a run for it.”

An Ran looked desolate. She sat on the windowsill, gazing at the roses in the courtyard.

The rain had battered the roses until they were in a pitiful state.

“I originally wanted to ask you to help ease the relationship between father and son…”

What? I couldn’t help with something that abstract.

I was just about to refuse when I heard her continue, “But I didn’t expect their relationship to have gotten this bad. Asking you to help with that really is a bit too much.”

At least she understood.

“Then you…”

“I don’t know,” An Ran said. “I’m a little lost right now too. I don’t know what else we can do.”

I flopped backward onto the bed.

Whatever. We’d just take it one step at a time.

I’d figured it out by now. I’d gotten myself stuck with an unreliable ghost.

Sure enough, ten million wasn’t easy money.

I couldn’t fall asleep right away, so I turned my head and started chatting with her. “You still haven’t told me. What exactly did you and CEO Fu fight about back then?”

An Ran floated over and lay down beside me.

She was freezing cold, but I wasn’t scared. I was already prepared for the juicy gossip.

An Ran’s pale, thin lips parted slightly.

“I… don’t remember.”

Me: “…”

What a waste of my feelings.

Sleep!

I wasn’t actually that resentful about missing out on the gossip.

Because I knew ghosts were like this.

The longer they wandered in the human world, the more their memories gradually deteriorated.

“Sorry, little sister. You should get some sleep.”

An Ran didn’t need to sleep. Bored, she flew out and looked around.

Before long, she flew back.

Seeing that I still wasn’t asleep, she crouched beside me and softly began humming a song.

I paused. “What song is that?”

“Just something I made up. I used to sing it as a lullaby for Yangyang. Am I bothering you?”

“No.” I buried my head in the pillow. “It’s really nice. Sing it for me again.”

“Sure.”

I’d grown up in an orphanage since I was little. Only recently had the Liang Family acknowledged me and taken me back, where I was met with nothing but cold shoulders and disdain.

Being lulled to sleep was something I had never experienced before.
