Chapter 2

Lying on the soft bed in the guest room, I felt a wave of lingering fear from my brush with death.

And yet An Ran was still muttering beside me, “I actually don’t blame him. He looked so sad, and I feel a little sad too.”

I was utterly speechless. “Girl, if I hadn’t said that, I would’ve died!”

“I know. I don’t mean I’m blaming you. I just… feel a little sad.”

“…”

Fine. Generally speaking, the longer someone stayed a ghost, the less clear their head became. I could understand.

I ignored her. After getting some sleep, I wasn’t quite so scared anymore.

When I turned my head, I saw her, a lone little ghost, lying miserably across the windowsill.

She did seem rather pitiful.

So I spoke to her. “Hey, you never told me. What exactly did you and Fu Shengchao fight about back then?”

An Ran froze for a moment, her expression turning downcast.

“Because…”

Bang-

A thunderous noise came from downstairs.

It was the sound of the front door being slammed into.

Then a young boy’s voice rang out, childish yet spitting the filthiest, most vicious words.

“Fu Shengchao! How dare you bring a woman home! How can you face my mom?!”

“Get out here! What, are you too scared to come out?”

“Fu Shengchao! You cowardly turtle!”

Ah. The Fu Family’s little devil had returned!

An Ran had said that when she died in the car accident, her son had only been seven.

Ten years had passed since then. Her son was now seventeen, right in the rebellious phase.

And the terrible relationship between the Fu Family father and son was common knowledge throughout Jingshi.

I was still letting my thoughts run wild when I heard a rapid burst of footsteps pounding up the stairs.

They stopped right outside my room, followed by a flurry of vicious kicks against the door.

“Is that woman hiding in there? Get the hell out here!”

The butler hurriedly tried to stop him. “Young Master! The person inside is a guest.”

“Bullshit. She must be the little slut Fu Shengchao brought home.”

Hey. Why was this brat’s mouth so filthy?

Furious, I got out of bed, strode over, and yanked the door open.

Then I glared at him.

“What do you want?”

After staring at Fu Zhiyang eye to eye for a few seconds, I abruptly realized that this brat looked so much like his father!

His nose and mouth were practically carved from the same mold.

His brows and eyes resembled An Ran’s, a little softer.

But his handsome looks couldn’t hide the fact that he was a rotten kid!

Fu Zhiyang swept a very rude gaze over me from head to toe.

Then he gave a disdainful sneer. “Someone like you thinks you’re worthy of stepping through my family’s door? Get lost.”

I was so angry that all my internal organs felt like they were starting to ache.

An Ran drifted over at that moment too. “Oh my, my son has grown so big.”

“My son is so adorable.”

I rolled my eyes. I hadn’t even started roasting her in my head when I heard her next sentence.

“Little sister, slap him.”

I froze, then instantly lit up.

Raising my hand, I slapped Fu Zhiyang right across his handsome face.

Smack-

Fu Zhiyang’s face snapped to the side, and he stood there completely stunned.

Then he turned to stare at me in disbelief. “You dared to hit me?!”

The butler’s expression darkened as well. “Miss Liang Zheng, although you are a guest of the Fu Family, isn’t it rather inappropriate for you to lay hands on the Young Master?”

“You fucking dared to hit me!” Fu Zhiyang exploded, lunging toward me like a madman, his expression as if he wanted to tear me apart alive.

Afraid the situation would get out of hand, the butler threw his arms around Fu Zhiyang’s waist with all his strength. “Young Master, please calm down.”

I hurriedly backed up several steps.

Then I looked at An Ran and asked in a low voice, “Now what?”

An Ran said, “Huh?”

I frowned. “And after I hit him? You hadn’t even thought of a plan before telling me to do it?”

The female ghost stared at me, utterly bewildered.

I rolled my eyes so hard I almost passed out.

I’d been screwed over again!

The commotion over here was too loud, and at last it alerted Fu Shengchao.

“What’s going on?”

The moment his voice rang out, Fu Zhiyang stopped moving.

Breaking free of the butler’s grip, he turned around and looked at him with reddened eyes.

Oh, and half his face was red too.

The instant Fu Shengchao saw his face, his expression darkened.

Fu Zhiyang said through gritted teeth, “Fu Shengchao, you really are ruthless. My mom’s death anniversary is in two days, and at a time like this, you bring this woman home and let her hit me… Aren’t you afraid my mom’s spirit is watching you from above?”

Fu Shengchao’s icy glare shot straight at me.

“You hit him?”

“Who gave you the nerve?!”

Fu Zhiyang sneered, “What are you pretending for? In this house, would she dare lay a hand on me without your tacit approval?”

The father and son of the Fu Family, along with the butler, all turned to stare at me.

I blinked, then toppled sideways onto the floor.

“Oh my, what happened? I think I just had a dream. Huh? Wasn’t I sleeping? Why am I sitting on the floor?”

“Why are all of you here? What happened to this handsome young man’s face? Why is it so red?”

Fu Zhiyang looked at me in disgust. “What the hell are you playing at?”

I shook my head in confusion. Then my eyes lit up, and I scrambled to my feet and ran to Fu Shengchao’s side.

“Right, CEO Fu, I dreamed of your wife again just now.”

Fu Shengchao looked over coldly.

Clearly, he didn’t believe me anymore.

I silently swallowed and continued spouting nonsense.

“It’s true.”

I pointed at the windowsill. “In the dream, she was leaning on the windowsill looking at the flowers. She said the rose in the courtyard was planted by her own hands when the young master was five. It was a birthday present for him.”

“She looked very sad. She said her son has gone astray now, and if she had the chance, she really wanted to discipline him. She even asked me if she could borrow my body for a bit. I got scared, and then I woke up.”

“Young Master Fu, don’t tell me I was the one who really hit you?! Oh my God, I didn’t mean to. I think I was possessed…”

The moment I said that, all three men in front of me froze.

Fu Shengchao subconsciously turned to look at the butler.

The butler hurriedly said, “Sir, I didn’t say a word.”

Fu Zhiyang, however, became agitated-and completely missed the point. “What nonsense are you talking about? How do you know about the rose? Who told you?!”

He paused, then looked coldly at Fu Shengchao. “You told her? What right do you have to tell her anything about my mom?”

“Fu Shengchao, my mom must’ve been blind as hell to fall for you back then!”

Smack-

His right cheek got slapped too.

By his dad.

The atmosphere froze in an instant.

Even An Ran stopped flying around and stared blankly at her son.

Fu Zhiyang touched his face. Instead of getting angry, he laughed.

The look in his eyes when he raised his head to stare at his father was terrifying.

He didn’t seem entirely sane.

He shoved the butler away and ran downstairs.

“Sir, it’s raining outside. Young Master is furious right now-if he goes out like this, something could happen!”

“Go find him!”

The butler looked troubled. “If you don’t go, I’m afraid we won’t be able to bring him back. You know Young Master’s temper. If he gets hurt…”

Fu Shengchao closed his eyes, his chest heaving violently a few times.

Before leaving with the butler, he gave me an unreadable look.

I immediately bowed and scraped. “I’ll stay put and behave. Don’t worry, CEO Fu.”
