Chapter 125
Chapter 125
Xiao Huai had thought of the same thing as Xiao Qian.
No wonder Follower No. 3’s smile had seemed so suggestive.
Click. Click.
At the same time, the hall became like a turning Rubik’s Cube, its space warping.
The hall shook and the chandelier swayed. The players stared at one another, unsure what to grab, backs bent as they surveyed their surroundings nervously.
“Don’t worry. Our honored guests are merely arriving.” Follower No. 3 smiled, standing motionless as she gazed ahead.
Follower No. 2 took out a mirror and groomed himself, even brushing his teeth.
A chill ran down the players’ backs. Several tunnel-like black-purple corridors appeared across the walls.
No one knew where they led, but classical music had already begun.
Piano and violin intertwined in a dreamlike, intoxicating melody.
Follower No. 2 put away his mirror. After exchanging a glance with Follower No. 3, he effortlessly lifted the chest of gold.
In a blink, the coins filled four exquisite boxes. The first held twenty-four; each of the other three held twenty-five.
Follower No. 2 solemnly carried the boxes to the corridors in the walls.
He straightened, ready to welcome the guests.
“Wow, cool. Edwin didn’t waste this chance. Looks like we’ll have some fun.” A long-legged youth in military boots emerged first.
His black hair was long, and he stood at least six foot one. A commander’s cap sat on his head, and serpentine violet eyes surveyed the hall.
Follower No. 3 flushed and rushed forward. “Commander Ling, I never expected His Lordship to invite you.”
Ling Chen glanced at her. “Mm. Killing insects gets boring, so I came when I saw the invitation.”
A long whip cracked against the floor. Sparks from the impact became viscous sulfuric acid that attacked Ling Chen.
Ling Chen sneered. His fingers hooked the gun at his waist, and he dodged while pulling the trigger in one fluid instant.
The bullet struck the acid with unimaginable force, making the players think the world was ending.
Wood fragments exploded and blocked their sight as a mature woman’s voice pierced the dust.
“Even a child who’s been a god for barely a century can join? That old man Edwin must have no friends.”
“Qi Sha, all this time apart, and that’s all you’ve got?” Ling Chen teased.
“Lady Qi Sha.” Follower No. 3 bowed.
“Little Qi Sha, Edwin will be angry if you talk about him like that.” A suited man in a top hat appeared to her right, red curls cropped short and an afternoon-tea cup in hand.
He was supremely elegant, but countless dangers filled his blue-green eyes.
“The Mad Hatter? You came too.” Qi Sha raised a brow.
The Mad Hatter smiled, sipped his tea, and looked toward Xiao Huai.
“Naturally. I wanted to see the little fellow for myself.”
After all, Xiao Huai had found Miss Werewolf with ease.
When Xiao Huai met the Mad Hatter’s gaze, the other two looked at him as well.
Everyone on that side was a god.
Ling Chen holstered his gun, wicked amusement hidden in his eyes. “I can’t wait for him to climb to the eighth floor and enter my world. Why did that old pervert Edwin have to notice him?”
Qi Sha played with her whip. Crimson blood stained her black-and-white dress like flowers painted in human blood. “At least we were invited, weren’t we?”
The players were terrified. How could they not know these gods?
They were far too famous.
The Mad Hatter hosted the notorious seventh-floor *Murderous Tea Party*.
Qi Sha ruled *Seven Kills*, a perversely difficult ninth-floor battle royale.
Ling Chen was the ruling god of the eighth-floor instance *Interstellar Crossing*, a domain of the insect race. Whenever displeased, he casually ordered giant insects to bite players to death.
But this was only a fourth-floor instance!
Why had gods from high-floor instances come to the fourth floor?
This damned special instance would be the death of them.
As they despaired, a player suddenly screamed, “Ahhh!”
The others followed his gaze. Black water had covered the floor, countless eyeballs floating within it.
Xiao Qian’s pupils contracted at the sight, and he went blank for an instant.
Follower No. 3 bowed respectfully toward it. “Lord of Tianfan.”
The black water and eyeballs twisted, then gathered into a huge, slimy mass covered in eyes.
Qi Sha frowned. “Tsk. Edwin is beyond saving.”
The Lord of Tianfan did not react, maintaining his filthy, ugly appearance.
The players did not know him, but the mass of eyeballs was disgusting and clearly dangerous.
Follower No. 2 stepped forward respectfully and handed each god a box of gold coins.
The shaking finally stopped and the music cut off. Behind each god, a corridor became an antique door connected to an unknown space.
Follower No. 3 returned to the crowd. “You must all feel honored and excited to meet so many lords at once.”
The players suppressed the urge to roll their eyes. Who felt honored or excited?
They wanted to punch whoever had dragged them into this instance to death.
Meeting these fiends was misfortune across three lifetimes.
“Now for more details about the factions. Human players, do you find this unfair? How can humans rival vampires? I’ll tell you one way to become a vampire.”
Smiling, she produced a cold dagger and pointed it at Follower No. 2.
“Kill another player, vampire or human, and you will transform into a vampire. Wonderful, isn’t it?”
Follower No. 2 raised his hands in mock fear, madness filling his face. “There are only one hundred gold coins. Do you understand what that means?”
What…
Only one hundred coins existed.
At most twenty-five human players could leave successfully.
But a vampire needed only to steal someone else’s coins.
A new system screen appeared.
[Special Fourth-Floor Instance Notice:
Each night, random players from the human faction will be locked in the Corpse Cage. Today’s selected human players are Nos. 15, 35, and 79. At nine tonight, they will automatically be imprisoned. Good luck.]
The system thoughtfully included a short video of the Corpse Cage.
Darkness surrounded it. Humanlike monsters howled and battered the cage, trying to force their way inside. Their eyes were crimson, and every one had long since lost its mind.
