Chapter 5

Once it was clear that I was adjusting to my new school life, my twin brother went right back to living his carefree campus life.

I didn’t see him again until school let out at noon.

And it wasn’t just him. Several people in class who were close to Wen Jun’an had vanished too.

The teacher who came in to teach swept a glance over the room and, as if this were nothing new, simply began the lesson.

The rest of the class didn’t seem to think much of it either.

In the end, I asked my deskmate about it. Hearing my question, Jiang Yuyun explained, “They probably skipped class.”

“Skipped class?”

Jiang Yuyun lowered her voice.

“Yeah. You know how our school is full of rich young masters. Aside from teachers with some kind of backing, most teachers are afraid that if they upset one of those young masters, they’ll lose their jobs. Your brother and his friends used to cut class from time to time too. The school can’t really do anything about it, and your parents… don’t seem to be able to control him either.”

I narrowed my eyes.

After more than ten years of following every rule, it had genuinely never occurred to me that my own twin brother might be a problem student.

As for that head of red hair, I’d only thought he had a bit of personality.

However, before I could figure out how to guide my dear brother back onto the right path, the homeroom teacher came looking for me right before school ended that afternoon.

“Lingyun, Wen Jun’an got into a fight with someone off campus and was taken to the police station. I tried calling your parents, but I couldn’t get through. Can you reach them?”

“…”

And that wasn’t the end of it. I had just finished talking with the homeroom teacher when I turned around and saw two young girls poking their heads around the stairwell.

I recognized them. They were Wen Shuyan’s classmates.

They were beckoning to me with an extremely guilty, furtive air. I walked over and heard them say, “Sis, Shuyan got caught dating and was taken to the police station. Hurry up and save her!”

My vision nearly went black.

My parents had an afternoon flight today to go abroad for business negotiations, so it made sense that I couldn’t reach them right now.

I called my dad’s assistant, then went to the police station first with the homeroom teacher.

Coming with us were the school administrators, as well as the homeroom teacher from another class.

Because the person Wen Jun’an had clashed with was none other than the top student in our grade whom I’d met not long ago, He Shinian.

The police station was very lively.

When I arrived, I saw that Wen Jun’an had no time to care about the fact that he’d gotten into a fight.

He stood in front of a teenage boy with his hands on his hips, looking fierce and aggressive.

“Does your He family have some kind of grudge against ours? The older one has been screwing me over since we were kids, and now the younger one dares to hook up with my sister?”

The yellow-haired boy looked utterly unconvinced. “Who hooked up with your sister? She’s the one who kept pestering me!”

Wen Jun’an was so angry he looked ready to throw a punch, but this was a police station. He couldn’t do whatever he wanted.

The police officers warned them aloud.

I saw Wen Shuyan standing behind Wen Jun’an like a little quail, though she was still clutching the corner of his shirt.

Across from them, both He brothers had bruises on their faces.

He Shinian and He Jing.

The police, teachers, and school administrators were all present. Yet the brothers were both injured, while Wen Jun’an looked perfectly fine. It seemed obvious at a glance who was at fault.

One of the school administrators snapped, “Wen Jun’an, you again!”
