Chapter 3
Chapter 3
The next day, Chen Yi came storming into class to look for me.
“Xu Jin, why haven’t you transferred the scholarship to Xiao Xiao yet?”
I slammed my book down hard. “I know already. What are you rushing me for? Is this how you ask someone for a favor?”
“…”
On the third day, Chen Yi came looking for me again.
“Are you done yet? I already promised you. It’s not like I’m going to go back on my word!”
Chen Yi gritted his teeth. “As soon as possible.”
On the fourth day.
The moment Chen Yi reached my desk, I shot to my feet and rammed into him.
Caught off guard, he was shoved over by me and landed hard on his butt.
“Here he comes again. What a plague.”
“I’ll go right now, happy?”
As I passed Chen Yi, I gave him a casual kick for good measure, leaving him sitting there, looking around in utter confusion.
…
At Monday’s flag-raising ceremony, the students who received scholarships went onstage to be commended.
Obviously, I wasn’t among them anymore… but neither was Xiao Xiao.
Off to the side, Chen Yi looked like he was about to grind his teeth to dust.
After dismissal, he came running over to settle accounts with me.
“Xu Jin, what the hell? Why wasn’t Xiao Xiao up there?”
I scratched my head. “I did fulfill our agreement. I gave up my scholarship spot.”
“There were three spots in total. I was first in the grade and withdrew, so the student ranked fourth took my place. What does that have to do with someone ranked 288th in the grade?”
The student ranked fourth was a rich second-generation kid with excellent grades. She didn’t care about the money; she just wanted the chance to make a big show of herself onstage. So she paid me three times the amount to swap with me.
Chen Yi looked like he was about to go insane. His mouth opened and closed, but he still tried to explain in as calm a tone as possible.
“I didn’t tell you to withdraw. I told you to designate a person and transfer it. Transfer it, not withdraw. Do you understand?”
“Well, look at you… Why didn’t you make that clear earlier?”
I studied Chen Yi, scanning him from head to toe twice before finally shaking my head.
“So careless and sloppy. You’ll never amount to much in the future.”
…
The volcano that had been suppressed for days finally erupted.
“Get out of my way! Stop holding me back!”
“Protect the emperor! Protect the emperor!”
Chen Yi chased after me, but accidentally crashed into someone.
“Are you blind or what?”
The school bully, Zhou Bing, grabbed him by the collar and cursed viciously.
“I didn’t mean to.” Chen Yi immediately went timid and begged for mercy.
Zhou Bing tossed him aside, then turned to glare at me.
“That hit just now-I blocked it for you, didn’t I?”
Without thinking, I said, “You have performed meritorious service in rescuing the emperor. I hereby appoint you Chief Eunuch.”
“…”
“Pah, no, Imperial Guard.” He was my benefactor, after all.
…
And now there was another person chasing me.
I reached out, grabbed Chen Yi, and with quick reflexes, flung him straight into Zhou Bing.
While the two of them got tangled up fighting each other, I seized the chance to escape.
Unfortunately, this was Xu Jin’s body.
If only I could have brought my martial arts with me, I absolutely would have beaten them until they were picking their teeth up off the floor.
