It felt like a nightmare.

I had been reborn again.

This time, when I came back, I was sitting in a taxi on my way to Xingfu Residential Area.

My nerves were still frayed. My entire body was ice-cold, and my mind was filled with images of my murder.

They had torn my clothes apart and taken turns violating me and Xiaoyu. Annoyed by my piercing screams, they used a scalpel to slit my throat.

And Duan Kai had sat on the sofa with Shen Zhiqiu in his arms, the two of them kissing passionately as they watched the show.

The memories were painful and vivid, as if they were still happening right in front of me.

“Miss, are you all right?” the driver asked, turning his head.

I jolted in fright and snapped back to my senses. “I’m not going to Xingfu Residential Area anymore. Take me to the police station! Hurry!”

Just then, my phone rang.

It was Duan Kai.

Just like in my last life, he was frantically calling and texting me.

I blocked him without hesitation.

Then I called Kang Yu.

“Hello, Nana.”

The moment I heard Kang Yu’s voice, I couldn’t hold it in anymore. Tears streamed down my face as I covered my mouth and nose and sobbed.

“Nana, what’s wrong?” Kang Yu asked gently.

“You, you…” I was crying too hard to speak. Only after taking several deep breaths did I manage to force the words out. “Xiaoyu, are you okay?”

“I’m fine.” Kang Yu’s voice filled with concern. “Are you crying? Did you fight with Duan Kai? Do you want me to come over?”

“No!”

I stopped her at once. “Something happened between me and Duan Kai. I can’t explain it in just a few words. If he calls you, don’t answer!”

With that, I apologized through my tears. “I’m sorry, Xiaoyu. I’m so sorry.”

Kang Yu burst out laughing. “Why are you apologizing out of nowhere?”

I wiped away my tears. “Xiaoyu, do you know a woman named Shen Zhiqiu?”

Kang Yu paused. “Yeah. Does your bad mood have something to do with her?”

I hurriedly asked, “How did you two meet? How long have you known each other? What does she do?”

Kang Yu said, “About three months ago, I think. Didn’t I sign up for a yoga class back then? Shen Zhiqiu happened to be a student there too. She didn’t know how to do a lot of the poses, so she asked me to teach her. After that, we ate together a few times, and gradually we got to know each other. She said she was a nurse working at a health checkup center. She even gave me a health checkup card and said she could use an internal employee channel to help me apply for a few free cancer screening items.”

I frowned in thought. There was no such thing as a free lunch.

Just then, Kang Yu asked cautiously, “Nana, why did you suddenly bring up Shen Zhiqiu? Is it because your Duan Kai and her…”

“Yes.”

I nodded. Over the phone, there was no way for me to explain in detail that I had been killed and reborn twice. I could only say, “The worst part is, Duan Kai and I just got our marriage certificate this morning. For now, we can’t act rashly. We can’t let that scumbag and his mistress catch on.”

Kang Yu immediately said, “Got it, got it! We gather evidence in secret and make that bastard leave with nothing, right? I told you ages ago that Duan Kai was no good. He’s just a PE teacher, but he wears designer brands all day and loves comparing himself to others. The wedding apartment was clearly the inheritance your parents left you, but he brags to people that he bought it…”

I cut my best friend off. “Xiaoyu, we can curse that bastard out later. I’m on my way to the police station right now. Come find me. Hurry.”

Kang Yu asked, “What are you going to the police station for?”

“I’ll tell you when you get here.”
