The car was parked on Basement Level 1. Duan Kai had to run down from the thirteenth floor and search through the car. Even at his fastest, it would take him about ten minutes.

I sprinted out of the residential complex like I was running the hundred-meter dash, hailed a cab, and shouted at the driver, “Drive! Hurry!”

Then I called my best friend, Kang Yu.

“Hello? Nana.”

Kang Yu’s voice was like a fire in the dead of winter, giving me warmth and hope.

I was gasping so hard I couldn’t speak. All I could do was cry.

“What’s wrong, Nana? Why are you crying?”

Kang Yu sounded frantic on the other end. “Did Duan Kai bully you?”

I choked out, “He…”

If I told Kang Yu outright that Duan Kai had murdered me and dismembered my body in my past life, she would probably think I’d lost my mind.

“Xiaoyu, Duan Kai cheated on me.”

Kang Yu’s voice shot up. “What? Didn’t you two just get your marriage certificate this morning?”

“Yes. And tonight I found out he was cheating.”

I took a deep breath. “Xiaoyu, listen to me. Duan Kai is definitely searching everywhere for me right now, and he’ll most likely go to your place too. Don’t bother with him. Just block his number.”

As expected, Kang Yu started cursing Duan Kai out. “I told you ages ago that that dumb jock was no good. A pig who thinks with his lower half. I still don’t know what got into you back then, letting him charm you senseless.”

She was right. I had been blind.

I wiped away my tears. “That scumbag will probably search every hotel one by one tonight, so I can’t get a room outside. Xiaoyu, I remember your grandfather left you an apartment in Xingfu Residential Area on Yan’an West Road before he passed away. Can I stay there?”

Kang Yu agreed without hesitation and said she would bring me the keys right away.

After I hung up, I arrived at my destination.

The reason I chose to stay here was because the police station was right across from Xingfu Residential Area. If anything happened, I could call the police and be rescued quickly.

It would take Kang Yu about half an hour to get here from her home in the southern part of the city.

I went to a nearby shop, bought a temporary SIM card, found a quiet spot, and dialed 110.

“Hello, I’d like to make a report.”

“Yes, I want to report Duan Kai, a PE teacher at No. 3 Middle School. He is secretly involved in human organ trafficking. He kills living people to harvest their organs!”

“Yes. I heard him say with my own ears that the buyers were waiting for fresh corneas, hearts, kidneys, and other organs. This should be an underground criminal organization.”
