Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Jiang Mengzhou wasn’t my biological brother. He was the son of my father’s late comrade-in-arms and came to live with us when he was ten years old.
When he first arrived, he was covered in filth. Beneath the grime, however, were eyes as bright and clear as a fawn’s. Once he was cleaned up, his handsome face instantly captured my heart.
My father told me that he had been an orphan from a young age, shuffled between different relatives. They all saw him as a burden and despised him; some had even been abusive.
Over time, he became withdrawn, showing little interest in communicating with others.
My father asked me to play with him more and to look after this poor older brother of mine.
I felt deeply for him. I shared all my snacks and toys with him, following him around every day while calling him “Brother” in my softest, sweetest voice.
However, as we grew older, his personality became increasingly strange.
By the time I started middle school, I had seen him for who he truly was. He wasn’t a normal person at all.
He was a lunatic-a complete and utter pervert.
During my second year of middle school, I used the money I had saved for a long time to buy a model airplane for my desk mate.
My desk mate was a very kind boy and my best friend.
But Jiang Mengzhou found the model. He toyed with it nonchalantly, looking down at me with a sidelong glance as tears welled in my eyes.
“Jiang Nanfeng, tell me… do you think this wooden plane can fly?” He squeezed my chin hard, looking down at me as he spoke those cold words.
I panicked. Realizing what he intended to do, I tried to appease him. “Brother, I’ll save up more money and buy you a remote-controlled plane that actually flies, okay?”
He looked at my face, his eyes filled with a chilling frost. With a cold laugh, he pushed the window open.
“Sister, this plane can fly right now. Watch.”
I cried out and lunged for the model, but I was too late.
The plane fell from the twelfth floor, shattering into a million pieces.
From that day on, his true nature was fully exposed to me.
He still acted like a well-behaved boy in front of our parents, but in front of me, he was a total demon.
He was moody and unpredictable.
He would tear the wings off butterflies he caught and watch them flutter helplessly on the table, laughing with disturbing joy.
He would fly into a rage whenever a boy got close to me, even attempting to control my every move.
Whenever I upset him, he would tie up my little dog, Aike, right in front of me and start beating him.
He wouldn’t stop until I begged for mercy, hugged him, and kissed him.
The expression on Jiang Mengzhou’s face when he abused animals is hard to describe. He looked as if he were in agonizing pain, yet simultaneously experiencing extreme pleasure.
What did that actually feel like?
As time passed, I actually began to feel a flicker of curiosity about that sensation.
