Chapter 4
Chapter 4
At the police station.
“They’re all students who can barely wring a chicken’s neck, and you’re telling me they beat you up like this?” the officer asked the gang leader, his tone righteous and stern.
At that moment, the thugs were all squatting in the corner in perfect formation.
I cried so hard I looked like a rain-battered pear blossom. “Officer, they were the ones who started it.”
My classmates had barely a few scratches on them, but all their eyes were red.
“That’s right, Officer. We’re usually very mild-mannered. If they hadn’t hit us first, if it hadn’t been for self-defense, we never would have gotten tangled up with them.”
“We’ve never suffered this kind of grievance in our lives.”
“And these thugs even collected protection money from us before.”
At that moment, Lao Wang also stepped forward. One of his eyes was bruised, and there was blood at the corner of his mouth. I shot him a sympathetic look. During the chaotic brawl earlier, I’d seen some classmates throw dirty punches at him. Just how much hatred did he usually attract?
“That’s right, Officer. This is partly my fault too. I was only outside the school enforcing discipline, but I never expected to run into these thugs.”
“Bullshit! We’re obviously the ones who got beaten worse!”
The officer slapped the desk twice. “Did I say you could talk?”
Then he said earnestly, “They’re just a bunch of kids! How could you bring yourselves to hit them?”
The thugs looked like they wanted to cry but had no tears. In the end, they bit their lips and said in grievance, “Prejudice in people’s hearts is a mountain.”
The corner of my mouth had also been hit. My eyes were red as Pei Yu looked at me, his fingers brushing the corner of my lips. “Does it still hurt?”
I buried myself pitifully against his chest. “It hurts so much!”
Lao Wang coughed lightly twice.
Jiang Yunbai laughed. “He’s talking about you two.” Then he pulled my hand over. “Bury yourself in my chest.”
Pei Yu slapped Jiang Yunbai’s hand away, his tone unfriendly.
“Stop messing around.”
The officer was still asking, “You said they hit you. What did they use?”
Yellow Hair glared at me resentfully. “That girl hit me with her boyfriend’s leg.”
I hugged Pei Yu’s prosthetic limb. Pei Yu looked at me, his face turning red.
Lao Wang flew into a rage. “Why did she hit only you and no one else? Reflect on yourself!”
I never expected that at the critical moment, Lao Wang would still be so protective of his own students.
We stayed at the police station for the whole morning.
The System praised me: [Not bad, Host. Now you’ve not only skipped school and gotten into a fight, you’ve even landed in lockup. You’re pretty good at teaching Pei Yu to go bad.]
Lockup?
This System sounded like it ran with the mob.
[Of course.]
[Your conquest progress has now reached 40%.]
When we were released, the thugs were still muttering threats under their breath. “What kind of good students are they? They even date behind the school’s back. Heh.”
Lao Wang stepped forward. “Even if students from First High School date early, they can still get into Tsinghua or Peking University. What about you?”
The thugs went almost scarlet with embarrassment.
I thought another fight was about to break out.
Instead, Lao Wang pulled out a dozen or so business cards.
“Stop fighting. Learning a trade is better than collecting protection money. There’s no shame in making a living with your own two hands.”
In an instant, the radiance of humanity shone down upon the thugs.
“Let’s go!”

The School Heartthrob Goes Bad
The System told me to teach Pei Yu, the disabled campus heartthrob, how to go bad. I agreed.
At the internet café, I snatched his Five-Year Gaokao, Three-Year Simulation out of his...
