Chapter 11
Chapter 11
This Chancellor.
Ni Luo.
This Chancellor.
Ni Luo.
These two names were like two shards of broken porcelain, driven deep into the center of my consciousness.
Pain surged, and fractured images came rushing back.
The people kneeling on the floor rose one after another, retreating to the sides.
The clinking of gold and jade ornaments echoed through the room.
Two figures, one in red and one in gold, stepped inside.
“Pei Jingcheng, how bold of you!”
“Huo Ni Luo, you dare touch my people!”
Torches illuminated the entire room.
The woman with the jade pendant hanging from her waist and the man dressed in opulent splendor were now clearly visible.
In an instant.
In just a single instant.
The cracks in my memory were stitched together; the shattered scenes were restored.
I murmured, “Third… Highness…”
The Third Princess of the Great Yin Dynasty, Yue Tingyuan.
“Ni Luo, are you alright?” Yue Tingyuan asked, her eyes full of concern.
“She is the Great Yin’s number one God of Slaughter; what could possibly happen to her? If anyone is in trouble, it’s Jingcheng,” the man in red said with a sneer.
He was the Fourth Prince of the Great Yin Dynasty, Yue Chiyan.
“Even if your Highnesses have arrived, it is hardly appropriate to intrude upon a private inner chamber, is it?”
When that cold, indifferent voice rang out, I could no longer maintain my composure.
Pei Jingcheng.
The most insidious, treacherous official in Great Yin, my arch-nemesis and sworn enemy!
I once swore an oath that in this lifetime, I would kill two types of people: one being foreign enemies and internal rebels, and the other being Pei Jingcheng.
But right now-presently-at this very moment-
His clothes were disheveled and his body was covered in scratches, while my own clothes were a mess and I was covered in red marks…
What on earth was going on?
I snapped my eyes shut.
I took three heavy, trembling breaths.
After the third breath, I abruptly opened my eyes.
My fingers were stiff, but my expression was sharp. I pulled my collar tight and stepped off the bed.
Stepping barefoot onto the floor, I skillfully flicked the hem of my robe and dropped to one knee, announcing loudly, “I, Huo Ni Luo, pay my respects to the Third Highness, the Fourth-”
“Turn around!”
A voice full of chill cut me off.
Pei Jingcheng had also gotten out of bed and was now standing in front of me, blocking me from view.
I wondered if I should take the opportunity to strike him with a palm blast and count how many pieces his spine would shatter into.
Everyone in the room turned around in unison.
“Fourth Prince,” Pei Jingcheng said, casting a flat gaze at Yue Chiyan.
Yue Chiyan scoffed. “This Prince has no desire to look at someone like her-”
“Your Highness!” Pei Jingcheng’s tone sharpened.
Yue Chiyan let out a cold huff and turned his head away.
I looked down and realized that in my kneeling position, a portion of my calf and thigh was exposed.
Pei Jingcheng leaned down and tugged at the long robe I was wearing.
“What are you doing?” I instinctively grabbed his wrist, my eyes fierce.
Pei Jingcheng remained unmoved, letting me grip him while his other hand finished smoothing out the hem of the robe.
He covered my legs, yet paid no mind to his own disheveled state. He simply bowed and performed his salutations: “I, Pei Jingcheng, pay my respects to the Third Highness and the Fourth Prince.”

The General Above
I woke up in my arch-rival’s bed.
His clothes were in disarray, his body was covered in red marks, and his eyes were clouded with the lingering haze of intimacy.
Shocked and...
