Chapter 5

[Holy crap… Sis is slaying!!]

[The supporting actress has reached god-tier status today! That was so fierce!]

[In that room… I did a quick scan, there are at least twenty bodies. That animal!]

[Wait, I’m confused. Who’s the Killer now? The guy with the hammer hasn’t even made a move yet!]

I gasped for air, my grip failing as the kitchen knife slipped from my hand and hit the floor with a loud clang.

Tears welled up without warning, streaming down my face and mixing with the blood splattered there.

I looked around the room at the little girls, their eyes frozen open in a silence that would never be broken. My throat felt so tight I couldn’t make a sound.

Then, I leaned over and picked the knife back up.

I walked to the bedside, stood over the lifeless corpse, and aimed for his crotch.

I hacked down with a vengeful fury.

***

I was quiet after leaving 501.

Everything that had happened today felt like a nightmare pushed to the brink of absurdity.

And yet, this ridiculous ordeal was far from over.

The elevator doors slid shut silently in front of me, the metallic walls reflecting my pale face, dotted with flecks of blood.

I watched the numbers on the display panel tick upward, one by one.

Floor seven.

Floor eight.

Ding-

The soft chime rang out with startling clarity in the deathly silent hallway.

The doors slowly opened.

The Raincoat Man stepped out first, heading toward 802.

The door to that unit was wide open. Dark red blood gushed from behind the threshold, spreading into a thick, viscous pool across the corridor floor.

A heavy scent of iron, mixed with an indescribable, sickly sweet stench, hit me full force.

I frowned, suppressing the urge to gag. I tightened my grip on the kitchen knife and followed close behind the Raincoat Man, stepping carefully along the edge of the blood.

As soon as I stepped into the living room, my breath hitched.

The Muscle Man was lying on his back in the middle of the bloodbath, his eyes wide and fixed in an expression of extreme terror and agony.

And there, hunched over his naked lower body, was that withered, stooped Old Woman. She was crouched there greedily, her head buried between his legs, making a wet, frantic sucking and swallowing sound that made my skin crawl.

Her skeletal fingers dug deep into the man’s cold thighs, her body trembling slightly with every gulp.

The entire apartment was silent, save for those horrifying sounds of feeding.

“She’s quite cute, isn’t she?”

A familiar voice came from the shadows by the bedroom door.

It was Gu Cheng.

He was still wearing those warm white loungewear clothes, though the cuffs were now stained with dark red spots, looking completely out of place in this bloody, filthy scene.

He leaned against the doorframe, hands tucked loosely in his pockets. There was even a look of near-ecstasy on his face.

“Look at her,” he said softly, his gaze falling on the Old Woman as she fed. “She’s so focused… like a starving infant nursing.”

His voice was calm, even carrying a hint of a smile, but it sent an instant shiver down my spine.

“Where’s your husband?”

“You mean that?” Gu Cheng tilted his chin lazily toward a corner of the living room. His tone was light, even tinged with a bit of disdain.

I looked where he pointed and felt the air vanish from my lungs.

In the shadows of the corner, the man who had once been tall and imposing-the man who could have snapped my wrist with a single blow-was now slumped in the blood like a dismantled doll.

His limbs… were all gone.

They had been crudely sawn off at the shoulders and the base of the thighs. The severed limbs were nowhere to be seen.

His torso sat there like a ruined stump of meat, soaking in the pool of blood.

The sticky, warm, dark red liquid we had been stepping in since the doorway was flowing from the ever-expanding source beneath him.

His head was slumped to one side, eyes half-open, staring hollowly at the ceiling. His chest no longer moved.
