Chapter 4

A shirtless man covered in bulging muscles poked his head out from behind the door. He glared at the Raincoat Man, his voice coarse and raspy.

“Hey! It’s the middle of the night! What the hell are you doing banging on the door? Have some damn manners!”

The Raincoat Man slowly turned his head, looking at him in silence before taking a step forward, hammer in hand.

“Oh?” The Muscle Man grinned menacingly. He suddenly raised the chainsaw in his hand and gave the cord a violent pull.

*Vroom-!!!*

The ear-piercing roar exploded instantly, echoing through the entire corridor.

“Two little nobodies dare to act tough in front of me?”

Hearing that roaring chainsaw, my legs went weak immediately.

Big brother… why are you including me in this?

I’m just passing through…

[Holy crap! Intense!!]

[Feels like the third run is about to start… The Killer only has a wooden-handled hammer. Can that really stand up to a chainsaw?]

[Supporting Female Lead: Speak up for me.]

I quickly scanned the floating words before my eyes, desperately trying to find even a single hint regarding the Muscle Man’s weakness.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t one.

The piercing roar of the chainsaw continued to vibrate against my eardrums.

I stared fixedly at the crazily spinning serrated blade.

Calm down.

With that chainsaw, the Raincoat Man couldn’t get close to him at all.

The Muscle Man pressed forward step by step, forcing the Raincoat Man to slowly retreat.

Seeing my chance, I turned and rushed into the elevator, shouting to the Raincoat Man: “Get in, quick!”

Then I hollered at the Muscle Man: “You scrub! If you’ve got the guts, come find us in 802! Our boss definitely won’t let you off! You total scrub!”

At the very last second before the elevator doors closed, the Raincoat Man’s figure flashed as he squeezed inside.

I pressed the close button frantically, my finger barely leaving the button.

It wasn’t until the doors fully shut and the elevator began to rise that I finally let out a breath.

I glanced sideways at the slightly disheveled Raincoat Man and couldn’t help but curl my lip inwardly.

Seriously, man? That’s it?

My gaze inadvertently swept over the hammer in his hand, and I froze.

The wooden handle, which should have been easily sliced through by the chainsaw… only had a shallow nick on it.

“Your hammer is so sturdy. Why didn’t you just take that guy down earlier?”

The Raincoat Man gave me a cool glance.

“Do you think I’m stupid?”

I rolled my eyes at him. As soon as the elevator reached the fifth floor, I grabbed him and pulled him out, then reached back to hit the close button so the elevator would continue up empty.

“A doctor lives in 501. Right now, the people from the second and sixth floors are heading to the eighth; let them fight it out,” I whispered, explaining quickly. “We’ll wait for them to tire each other out, then we’ll swoop in and play the oriole.”

After hearing this, the Raincoat Man just looked at me without asking any questions. He walked straight to the door of 501, swung his hammer, and smashed it down.

*Clang!*

The door swung open. Carrying his hammer, he was the first to walk in.

I followed closely behind him, instinctively holding the kitchen knife across my chest with the blade facing outward, taking every step with extreme caution.

The house was terrifyingly quiet; only the sound of our light footsteps echoed in the darkness.

The Raincoat Man stared at the sliver of light leaking from under a door. Without hesitation, he raised his foot and kicked the door open.

I followed him in, only to freeze in place.

The room was packed with dolls over a meter tall.

The doctor had his back to us. He was completely naked, caressing an exceptionally exquisite doll in his arms with a posture that bordered on ecstatic.

My gaze locked onto the faces of those dolls.

The skin was a stiff, cold bluish-white; the pupils were hollow and dilated; the lips were an unnatural shade of purple.

These weren’t dolls at all.

These were… the carefully dressed corpses of young girls.

Fury exploded in my head.

I didn’t even notice the Raincoat Man beside me raising his hammer. A surge of brute force erupted from somewhere within me as I swung the kitchen knife and hacked down violently at that naked back.

One strike!

Two strikes!

Three strikes!

Warm liquid splashed onto my cheeks and neck. My vision turned a brilliant crimson.

I couldn’t hear anything except the dull thud of the blade hacking into flesh and bone, and my own heavy breathing.

It wasn’t until my arm was so sore and numb that I could no longer lift it that I snapped back to my senses.

The doctor had collapsed onto the messy bed. His neck was nearly severed, with only a layer of skin and flesh barely holding it together. His eyes were wide, staring straight at the ceiling, his face frozen in a mask of shock and deathly silence.

Thick blood was gushing out from beneath him, soaking the sheets and dripping onto the floor.
