Chapter 4
Chapter 4
I realized something.
The killer had long since been capable of doing anything he wanted to me.
But he hadn’t made a move. He hadn’t shown himself. He hadn’t even startled me.
There was only one possibility.
The timing wasn’t right.
He was waiting for something.
Or there was still something he hadn’t finished.
But as long as he didn’t act, he wouldn’t reveal any flaws. For now, all I could do was wait.
I sat in silence and watched TV.
When my phone announced the time-11:30-I went into the bathroom as usual and started taking a shower.
The killer’s presence still followed me like a shadow, but I was no longer in any position to care about privacy.
Just as I expected, he did nothing throughout the entire shower.
He hadn’t come here for anything filthy.
After drying myself off and blow-drying my hair, I returned to the bedroom and went to sleep.
Once I pulled the blanket over myself, I checked again.
He was standing right beside the bed…
I pressed my phone. The time was 11:54.
I sent my boyfriend a message on WeChat.
“Good night, honey.”
There was no miracle. No reply.
He really was gone.
I hugged the blanket, took a deep breath, relaxed my body, and closed my lightless eyes.
But my mind was frighteningly clear. Once the fear faded, hatred rushed back in to fill the void.
Come on, killer.
What exactly are you trying to do?
Haven’t I been at your mercy all along?
Come on!
“My Lord, the time has come.”
The silence had lasted for almost half an hour.
At last, the person beside my bed spoke.
“I will use her blood now to complete the sacrifice to You.”
His voice was low and hoarse, like a beast’s.
With that, he stopped hiding his footsteps. He turned and walked toward the door, then closed it.
I didn’t dare hesitate. I reached under my pillow for my phone.
After losing my sight, I had learned to use every function on my phone without relying on voice prompts.
Silently, I unlocked it, opened my messages, typed 12110-the police emergency text number-then entered my home address and the reason…
But suddenly, I realized the killer’s footsteps had vanished.
Then I heard him say, “Yu Xiaotao.”
He was calling my name from the bedroom door.
But his next sentence was already right beside my ear.
“You aren’t asleep, are you?”
I could even feel that icy breath.
In truth, I had been waiting for this moment all along.
Because now, I finally knew where his head was.
“Of course I’m not asleep, you bastard!”
I rolled over, pulled out my phone, and slammed it into his face with all my strength.
He grunted.
I raised my hand, wanting to hit him again, but he immediately seized my wrist.
“A blind woman?” he sneered.
“That’s right. A blind woman!”
I had let him catch me on purpose, just to give my other hand enough time to yank open the nightstand drawer and find the comedone extractor.
It was the only sharp object here.
I gripped it tight and stabbed the needle tip toward where his eye should be.

I am blind.
Inside the refrigerator, I felt my boyfriend’s corpse.
And someone was standing right behind me,
waiting to see how I would react.
