Chapter 4

The next day, when Shen Jibai set off to bid for the project, I shamelessly squeezed into the car with him.

His voice dropped. “Get out.”

I threw my arms around his waist and stuck to him like glue. No amount of pulling would dislodge me.

“Honey, take me with you. I promise I’ll be good. I won’t cause any trouble.”

I batted my big, dewy eyes at him.

Then I remembered…

He couldn’t see me!

Immune to the full force of my charm, he still insisted that I get out.

Desperate, I grabbed his collar and kissed him all over until his face was scarlet.

The poor driver looked terrified. He shrank into himself like a frightened bird.

Shen Jibai caught the back of my neck and pulled me away. “Miss Lin,” he said through his teeth, “have some restraint.”

Unconcerned, I settled against his chest with a smile. “A love bite mysteriously appeared on my neck this morning. I wonder which dirty scoundrel put it there.”

“Honey, you have to stand up for me.”

He fell silent and let me nestle in his arms.

After a long while, he said hoarsely, “…Drive.”

At the office, Shen Yi and I met in the bathroom.

I pressed a flash drive into his palm. “Everything’s on here, Yi. You’re going to win!”

He said nothing, only stared at my slightly swollen lips.

At last, he gave a quiet grunt of agreement.

The meeting began soon afterward.

Shen Jibai presented first. Though he couldn’t see, he seemed to have every detail etched into his mind and explained the entire proposal clearly and methodically.

This was plainly not what Shen Yi had expected. Before he could catch on, I quickly gave him an encouraging look.

He nodded back, took a deep breath, and opened his presentation.

And then…

A series of adults-only images filled the screen.

The room erupted.

The executives’ faces went red, then white with fury.

Shen Yi cried out, “No! There’s been a mistake! Mr. Zhang, Mr. Wang, let me explain—”

With the evidence right in front of them, no explanation could help.

“Outrageous!”

Both executives stormed out.

And, naturally, the project went to Shen Jibai.

I snickered all the way home. The moment we got back, Shen Jibai suddenly raised an arm and pinned me against the wall.

“Was that your doing?”

I considered it, then cupped his face. “You’re welcome, honey. Just doing my duty.”

An unreadable smile touched his lips. His voice was low and husky. “My assistant just described the contents of those slides to me… It seems Miss Lin has quite an extensive collection.”

“Perhaps, in future, Miss Lin might…” Shen Jibai arched a brow, amusement slipping into his voice. “…be generous enough to teach me a few things?”

Oh. Well.

Even I couldn’t stop myself from blushing.

When this man stopped behaving himself, he really was impossible to resist.
