Chapter 2
“Dashun-”
I thought of my buddy who’d been in the same truck as me. If I’d been tied up and brought here, then where was he?
Then I looked again at the five blood-soaked words on the wall, and a terrible feeling suddenly welled up in my chest.
That couldn’t be Dashun’s blood, could it? Was he trying to warn me about something?
In a panic, I lunged toward the wall. A rank, gamey stench rushed into my nose.
That smell… wasn’t human blood.
I relaxed a little, then slowly raised my head-only to freeze.
I saw a pair of eyes!
Right outside the wooden wall in front of me!
Those pale pupils were peering through the gaps between the planks. Who knew how long they’d been watching me?
For no reason at all, a wave of disgust surged up from the bottom of my heart.
I lifted my foot and kicked the wooden wall hard, nearly smashing the old planks apart.
The eyes staring at me were startled by the sudden impact and retreated several steps.
But it quickly charged back up and slammed into the wooden wall with a loud bang!
I watched helplessly as it smashed two large holes through that row of planks.
What poked in from outside the holes were two dark red goat horns.
So the thing that had been standing outside watching me wasn’t a person at all, but an enormous goat.
But weren’t goats supposed to have horizontal pupils?
The eyes I’d just seen were clearly like a human’s, black and white, with round pupils.
Had I seen wrong?
I didn’t have time to think about it. The goat outside seemed to have been enraged by me. It actually backed up a few steps, then rammed the wooden house again!
The beast was insanely strong. The entire cabin shuddered from the impact.
“Fuck!”
I cursed and rushed to the door in a few strides.
The door was locked, but it had already started to rot and couldn’t withstand more than a few kicks from me.
I smashed half the door panel apart, then yanked down the door beam while I was at it and gripped it in my hand.
I’d been kidnapped and dragged to this place for no damn reason. My brother’s fate was still unknown, and I had a bellyful of rage with nowhere to vent it. And now even some beast dared come looking for trouble with me?
But just as I walked out with the door beam in hand, that strange goat ran off, leaving only several messy rows of hoofprints on the ground.
By then, the sun had begun to slant westward. Judging by the time, it should have been close to evening.
Weeds grew thick all around. In the distance, I could see tall, dense woods, and quite a few broken-down wooden houses stood nearby.
This place seemed to be an abandoned village hidden deep in the mountains. I could still vaguely make out traces of people having lived here before.
I had no idea how long I’d been unconscious, but from how my body felt, it shouldn’t have been too long.
My guess was that I’d been brought here only about a day ago.
I searched myself all over. My phone and keys were gone.
The only thing still on me was the Soul-Whip wrapped around my waist.
This Soul-Whip had been given to me by an old Daoist priest when I was a child.
He said, “You have the face of an asura and the heart of a bodhisattva. In this life, you’re destined to eat from both sides of yin and yang.”
Over the years I’d spent driving long-haul trucks, I’d run into more than my fair share of strange things.
But I was born with a hard fate and hot blood. Even if it were a dragon’s pool or a tiger’s den, I’d still dare to charge in and take a look.

Soul-Whip 10: Scapegoat
I had been kidnapped. Me-a burly man nearly two meters tall, with a face that made me look like Zhang Fei-had somehow been abducted and dragged deep into the mountains! I woke up briefly during...
