Chapter 1

The whole class turned to look at me.

Even the math teacher at the podium stopped.

He frowned.

“Student, do you have a problem with how to draw the auxiliary line?”

I choked up.

“Sir, Chubby Cat will never be able to draw auxiliary lines again.”

The teacher told me to get out.

Dejected, I walked out of the classroom.

Then I swung both legs into full gear and sprinted like my life depended on it!!!

I rushed to the school’s back garden as fast as I could!

Sorry, sir. I was born loving money. My bad!

I looked at the pond.

Sure enough, the male lead, Jiang Shengchen, was struggling in the water.

He was about to sink and become Chubby Cat Number Two (zero takeout orders version).

There was a male student on the bank, crying as he said he’d already called 110 and 120, but he couldn’t swim and was about to go get someone to help.

No need. Your savior is here!

I shouted Jiang Shengchen’s name, then leaped into the water and swam toward him at top speed.

After a whole lot of thrashing, I successfully hauled him onto the bank.

I got him ashore first, then climbed up myself.

Just as I was panting and scrambling up, I saw a pair of sneakers with a luxury brand logo stop in front of me.

I followed the shoes upward and saw the face of the male lead, Jiang Shengchen.

!

He was completely dry… He hadn’t fallen in?

I hurriedly got up and looked at the person I had just saved.

It was an unfamiliar boy. Definitely not Jiang Shengchen.

The floating comments flew by-

[Huh? Why wasn’t it the male lead who fell in?]

[Sorry, I saw wrong! I thought the male lead fell in… I mistook him for someone else.]

[You upstairs, you’re the one spreading fake news, huh?]

[Quick, look, the male lead is so handsome. His nose bridge is so high, his eyelashes are so long. Speaking of long…]

[Big.]

The next second, Jiang Shengchen’s arrogant voice dragged me back to reality.

“Hey. Before you jumped in to save someone, why did you shout my name?”

I looked at him.

His black hair fell over his forehead, casting a small shadow over his refined, three-dimensional features. His expression held a touch of careless contempt, the kind of rebellious arrogance common to rich young masters.

My gaze landed, completely of its own accord, on his left hand.

On his well-defined fingers was a ring. One look and I knew it was expensive.

Damn it. My money addiction was acting up again.

The young master in front of me had the temper of the genuine article. Seeing that I didn’t answer, he grew impatient.

“Tsk. Speak.”

For fuck’s sake, what was I supposed to say? That I got food poisoning from a discount group meal and could now see floating comments?

To a young master like him, the words “discount group meal” were probably so obscure he’d be lucky to understand them.

But there was a reason I could rank first in the grade. My brain worked.

The next second, I lifted my wet eyes and began drawing a pie chart on my face: sixty percent panic, thirty percent adoration, and ten percent blankness.

“Ah, I’m sorry. I don’t know why, but when I saw your face, my brain just crashed. I couldn’t say anything at all.”

He froze.

Then the impatience in his eyes slowly faded, and the corners of his lips lifted slightly. He looked a little pleased, like a cat.

Oh? So the young master was the tsundere type.

I held my breath until my face flushed, then kept going.

“I-I thought you were the one who fell in, so I jumped straight in to save you… It was my fault. I didn’t look carefully. The moment I thought it might be you in the water, I couldn’t think rationally anymore. I’m sorry. You must think it’s really unlucky, right?”

This young master wasn’t very good at hiding his emotions. Clear shock flashed through his eyes.

He probably never expected that I would risk my life so desperately for him.

He turned his head away, avoiding my gaze. He raised a hand to rub the bridge of his nose, then lifted his hand to check his watch.

Only, the watch was obviously on his left wrist, but he had raised his right hand.

He did everything except look at me.

Still, his tone was very forceful.

“Boring! I don’t like girls like you. Give up early.”

The moment he finished speaking,

I revealed immense pain on my face, like a cripple whose one good leg had just been kicked over and over.

“I understand. I’m sorry. I was too presumptuous. In that case, may I keep your ring? As a memento of my first and only love.”

As I spoke, I looked up at him.

My gaze was burning, affectionate, and focused, like Chubby Cat seeing McDonald’s, like a broke man seeing a jade plaque.

Not to mention, the corners of my eyes were red (from choking on water), and tears were streaming down my face (damn it, the pond water was filthy and made my eyes hurt like hell).

It was as if my tears had scalded him. He looked away like he’d been electrocuted.

There was clear heartache and pity for me in his eyes.

He yanked off the ring in a fluster and handed it to me. A bit of red spread over the tips of his ears, but he still kept his face turned away and refused to look at me.

“…Whatever.”

I accepted it with both hands. Our fingertips touched, a little warm.

His brow twitched, and the red at the tips of his ears spread down to his fair neck.

I bowed deeply to him, then ran off with a heartbroken expression.

The wind roared beside my ears.

I gripped the ring tightly and used every ounce of strength I had to suppress my delighted laughter.

This ring had a Hermès logo on it!

Designer goods!

It could sell for at least five figures, right?

Who could understand the sense of salvation I felt the moment I saw that Hermès logo?

I was too busy hurrying along to look at the floating comments-

[Who is this girl?! There’s no character like her in the main cast.]

[Why is she trying not to laugh? Wait, does she not actually like the male lead?]

[She even took a ring on the way out. Her eyes are really full of incoming wealth. Fuck, this is exactly what I’d be like if I transmigrated into a book.]

[I’m laughing so hard I’ve got mountains of gold and silver now.]

[The most career-focused episode yet.]

[Holy shit, that brain really does work. No wonder she’s first in the grade.]

[Hahaha, the male lead is going around asking his buddies now. He says there was a girl who risked her life to save him, but he cruelly rejected her confession, and asks if that hurt her too much, and whether she might do something stupid. His good buddy said he really deserves to die. The male lead is already feeling guilty.]

[The male lead’s IQ is unknown, but he’s got a kind heart, ha.]

Before school was over, I sold that ring.

Twenty thousand yuan hit my account.
