Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Everything I suffered on the rooftop that day was only the beginning of the bullying.
With Yu Mingsheng leading the charge, I became someone anyone at Yinghua High School could pick on.
It was their unspoken rule.
The teachers turned a blind eye. They had no intention of getting involved.
During the time I was being bullied, my friends started acting very strangely.
“Ah Yuan, don’t get mad, don’t get mad. They’ll get what they deserve.”
“Ah Yuan, take a deep breath. Calm down.”
It was like… they were terrified of me getting angry.
That evening, I went home covered in bruises, vaguely sensing someone following behind me.
I quickened my pace, wanting only to shake him off as soon as possible.
But he didn’t even bother hiding. He ran straight up and dragged me into an alley.
“Fuck! Brother Yu has no taste. How could he not use a face as pretty as yours?
“Guess that makes it my lucky day. Hahahaha.”
He cursed under his breath and pinned me to the ground.
“Woof! Woof! Woof!” A dog barked. The boy stiffened all over and turned to look, only to see a yellow dog charging at him ferociously.
The boy scrambled to his feet and ran.
Ah Huang came over and nuzzled affectionately into my neck.
“Ah Huang…” I reached out and stroked its head, murmuring to myself, “If you’d come any later, I might have killed him…”
It was an urge hidden deep in my heart, one I couldn’t suppress.
The next evening, I sat in the classroom. The dismissal bell had rung ages ago, but Yu Mingsheng and his people still hadn’t come looking for me…
What?
Were they tired of it? Bored? Had they suddenly decided to show mercy and let me off today?
My heart stirred, and I shot to my feet.
Grabbing my schoolbag, I ran home.
In the past, Ah Huang would run out to greet me the moment I reached the mouth of the alley.
But today, the alley was deathly quiet.
I walked into it step by step.
Someone was leaning inside, smoking. When he saw me, he raised an eyebrow.
“Young Master Yu, he’s back.”
I looked ahead and saw Yu Mingsheng crouching on the ground. In front of him lay Ah Huang, barely alive.
Ah Huang’s mouth and four limbs had all been tied up.
Its dark eyes looked at me, filled with nothing but me.
“You’re back?” Yu Mingsheng smiled. “I heard this dog of yours was fierce. Didn’t expect it to be so bad at taking a beating.”
As he spoke, he pressed the cigarette butt in his hand against Ah Huang’s body.
Ah Huang trembled from the pain, a whimper escaping its throat.
My voice was unbearably dry. “Give it back to me.”
“Sure.” Yu Mingsheng lifted his chin. “Kneel down and beg me.”
I stared at him without saying a word.
“What? Embarrassed with so many people watching?” Yu Mingsheng waved at the boys and girls standing around enjoying the show, and they slung their arms around one another’s shoulders, laughing as they left the alley.
When I still didn’t move, the smile vanished from his face.
Yu Mingsheng walked up to me and slapped me across the face. “You’ve really got some hard bones.”
With a look of disgust, he picked up Ah Huang. Before my shocked eyes, he slammed it hard into the ground.
I collapsed to the ground, at a loss.
Watching Ah Huang’s trembling body gradually lose its life, I reached up and touched my eyes.
Warm, unfamiliar liquid spread across my fingertips.
Piercing ghostly shrieks rang in my ears. “She’s crying! She’s crying! Jiang Yuan is crying!”
“We’re doomed, we’re doomed! The Malice Value is full!”
“Does she remember?”
“Yes.” I looked at a certain point in the empty air and smiled. “I remember.”
I had no memories from before I was six because I was not someone from this world.
I came from the Underworld Clan. I was the Daughter of the Underworld King, Jiang Yuan.
Because I had made a mistake, I was punished and sent to this world to reflect on myself. Now that my Malice Value was full, the seal the Underworld King had placed in my sea of consciousness had broken.
Seeing me talking to the air, Yu Mingsheng frowned.
“Who are you talking to?”
I pointed at the middle-aged woman fleeing through the air. “Her. Can’t you see her?”
“Playing tricks on me!” Yu Mingsheng thought I was mocking him, and his whole body turned violent with rage. He stormed toward me.
Then he reached out and grabbed my collar.
In the next instant, he should have slammed me into the wall.
But his movement stopped.
I gripped his wrist and peeled his hand away from me, inch by inch.
Yu Mingsheng stared at me, the pain making it impossible for him to control his expression.
“You…”
I motioned for him to look down. On the empty ground, my gaze softened a little, and even my voice grew gentle.
“My Ah Huang is biting you.”
