Chapter 81
Chapter 81
Lu Jing didn’t answer immediately; instead, he looked at Qin Weiyi.
Qin Weiyi remained silent.
Lu Jing quickly withdrew his gaze and asked, “Professor Qi, what do you want to do?”
“I need you to temporarily draw away the attention of some of the Vampires. If you can incapacitate them, that would be even better. I need time,” Qi Shuping said.
Qin Weiyi already understood Qi Shuping’s plan.
It was straightforward: divide and conquer.
First, target those who were alone. However, at the moment, there were no solitary Vampires. Since that was the case, they would target the smaller groups. Lu Jing would draw away some of the attention, and then Qi Shuping would strike those left behind. If they killed one, as long as their luck wasn’t too bad, they could eventually take out several.
While they couldn’t eliminate all the Vampires, reducing their numbers would make the situation slightly less dangerous for them.
There was no finesse involved-it was just brute force!
Still, Qin Weiyi cast a glance at Qi Shuping.
In fact, the best way to kill the Vampires right now would be to give the Silver Bracelet to Lu Jing. With Lu Jing’s combat prowess, he could likely kill three for every one Qi Shuping managed to take down. But Qin Weiyi understood her reasoning.
Despite her constant kind and gentle appearance, she didn’t actually trust any of them. She wanted to keep the life-saving weapon firmly in her own hands.
Qin Weiyi could understand this and didn’t mind.
Qian Xing continued to provide timely reports on the Vampires’ movements to Qin Weiyi and Qi Shuping.
Qi Shuping nodded to Qin Weiyi and then took the lead. Qin Weiyi followed closely behind, and as soon as he moved, Lu Jing naturally followed suit.
The first group Qi Shuping targeted consisted of four Vampires. This was the smallest squad and the one closest to them.
Qi Shuping led the two men to hide in the shadows. When she saw the four Vampires gradually approaching their position, she immediately turned to look at Lu Jing.
Lu Jing had been in plenty of fights growing up, but fighting a Vampire was a first in his several decades of life.
He took a deep breath.
He didn’t know if he could win. Qin Weiyi had already instructed him that if he couldn’t win, he should run; above all else, staying alive was what mattered most.
Having prepared himself mentally, Lu Jing clenched his fists slightly. His entire body tensed, ready for combat at any moment. Seeing Lu Jing like this, Qin Weiyi couldn’t help but hold his breath as well.
The Vampires continued to draw closer.
Lu Jing’s eyes were fixed on them. The moment they entered the area he deemed most suitable for an attack, he lunged out. Lu Jing’s movements were incredibly fast-something Qin Weiyi had grown somewhat accustomed to-but Qi Shuping, despite knowing he was about to strike, was still startled when he suddenly bolted forward.
It wasn’t just Qi Shuping who was startled; the group of Vampires was also caught off guard.
Taking advantage of their momentary lapse in focus, Lu Jing began his assault.
He landed a punch in one Vampire’s stomach, followed by a clean shoulder throw. Before they could react, he had already floored two of them.
The other two Vampires finally snapped out of it and began to attack Lu Jing. Though Lu Jing was large, his movements were exceptionally agile. Even after the two fallen Vampires scrambled back to their feet and all four surrounded him, they failed to cause him any significant harm. On the contrary, it appeared that Lu Jing held the upper hand.
After trading blows for a while and gauging their abilities, Lu Jing suddenly struck at the nearest Vampire. He performed another clean shoulder throw, but this time, he sent the creature flying a considerable distance. It landed squarely and precisely right where Qi Shuping was hiding.
Qi Shuping reacted instantly.
She lunged forward, dropped to a crouch, and gripping the Silver Bracelet tightly, she slammed it hard into the opponent’s chest.
The commotion startled the other three Vampires. They tried to rush over to help, but Lu Jing kept them pinned down, leaving them no room to escape.
“Agh!”
Amidst a chorus of screams, another Skin Sack was left behind. Seeing this, Lu Jing deftly tossed another Vampire over. Qi Shuping didn’t pause for a second, immediately setting to work on the next target.
Qian Xing saw everything clearly through the Surveillance.
He couldn’t tell if Lu Jing was simply too powerful or if these Vampires were too weak. Regardless, this slaughter of Vampires didn’t seem nearly as difficult as he had imagined.
He dithered for a long moment before slowly coming to his senses, silently warning himself: whatever he did, he must never offend Qin Weiyi!
In addition to watching Qin Weiyi’s group, Qian Xing was also monitoring the surrounding areas.
The ruckus caused by Lu Jing and Qi Shuping had made quite a bit of noise, naturally alerting nearby Vampires. Seeing those Vampires rushing toward the area where Qi Shuping and the others were located, Qian Xing quickly called out a warning.
“Vampires are heading your way!”
Qin Weiyi, holding his Walkie-talkie, heard Qian Xing’s warning and immediately told Qi Shuping, “Hurry up. They have reinforcements coming.”
As Qin Weiyi finished speaking, another scream rang out. Lu Jing seamlessly threw the next one over. Qi Shuping didn’t have time to respond to Qin Weiyi as she lunged toward her next target.
Watching the Vampires on the screen getting closer and closer to the group, Qian Xing warned them repeatedly, “They’re almost there! Hurry up!”
“They’re only one Corridor away! They’re about to hit the corner! Go, now!”
Though Qian Xing wasn’t physically there, watching the situation through the Surveillance made him more anxious than anyone.
Qin Weiyi kept a close eye on the situation. Estimating that the third Vampire wouldn’t last much longer, he immediately shouted to Lu Jing, “Retreat!”
Lu Jing understood instantly. He hurled the last Vampire as far away as possible, then immediately sprinted toward Qin Weiyi.
Having eliminated the third Vampire, Qi Shuping was now somewhat exhausted. Before she could even stand up, she suddenly felt a sensation of weightlessness as Lu Jing hoisted her onto his shoulder. It was a good thing she was gripping the Silver Bracelet tightly, or she would have dropped it.
After slinging Qi Shuping over his shoulder, Lu Jing charged toward Qin Weiyi. He scooped Qin Weiyi up with one arm, tucked him under his armpit, and began a mad dash to escape.
Watching Lu Jing make a clean getaway with Qi Shuping and Qin Weiyi in tow after killing three Vampires, Qian Xing subconsciously swallowed hard.
Just what kind of people were these Players?
Qi Shuping and Lu Jing had successfully collaborated to eliminate three Vampires before making a clean exit.
By the time the other Vampires arrived, the three of them were long gone.
“Check how many Vampires are left,” Qin Weiyi’s voice came through the Walkie-talkie.
He needed to know if the ones they had killed had any subordinates or ‘offlines’ tied to them.
Qian Xing snapped back to attention and got to work. He checked all the Surveillance feeds and counted three times to be sure before reporting to Qin Weiyi, “There are currently fifty-two Vampires remaining.”
Though the number was still large, eliminating fifteen Vampires in a single wave was undoubtedly heartening news.
