Chapter 6
Chapter 6
I drifted into a hazy morning doze. Somewhere in that fog of half-consciousness, I vaguely felt someone touching my face.
When I opened my eyes, I saw Zhao Suiyu.
“You’re back. Aren’t you going to work today?”
Zhao Suiyu’s voice came a little closer. “No work. I’m off today.”
As he spoke, his hand moved lower, his fingertips lightly teasing the side of my neck-one of my more sensitive spots.
The curtains were drawn, but it was definitely daylight outside.
Debauchery in broad daylight.
Zhao Suiyu hadn’t been like this before.
He leaned in as if to kiss me, and I pushed him away.
“I haven’t brushed my teeth.” I turned down the handsome man offering himself up at my door.
Besides, he might not have to work, but I did.
To put it bluntly, even if my own father had basically sold his daughter back then, at least he had sold me for a decent price. Borrowing someone else’s power, I had still managed to pressure him into giving me a branch company to run.
When that company first landed in my hands, it had been half-dead. I had poured real blood and sweat into bringing it back to life.
Over the past few years, I had even gotten pregnant and given birth. There had been a stretch in the middle that was especially hard, but I had made it through.
“Can’t you rest at home for the morning, President Su?” Zhao Suiyu lowered his head, burying his face against my chest. The collar of my pajamas had fallen open, and I could even feel his warm breath.
President Zhao did seem to have certain needs.
I rubbed his ear, my thoughts starting to wander.
Zhao Suiyu’s charm had not diminished at all since those days. If anything, after becoming a father, it had only deepened.
The aura around him had changed without either of us noticing. When we were newly married, he had still been cool and distant, with only the occasional shy moment in bed.
Although I hadn’t minded that he had a past when I married him, a husband who was somewhat inexperienced on our wedding night had still been a pleasant surprise. Besides, Zhao Suiyu was a quick learner.
After becoming a father, that maturity of his gained an added layer of gentleness.
“No.” I suddenly sat up and firmly rejected this temptation.
Zhao Suiyu was not the type to force the issue. He just watched as I bustled around washing up, putting on makeup, and changing clothes. Before heading out, I even found time to give him a kiss.
“I’ll come home early tonight.”
On the way to the company, I received a call from my assistant and listened as she reported on a few company matters.
Especially matters concerning my half-brother, Su Hua.
After my father saw me bring a half-dead company back to life, he started thinking about getting a slice of the pie.
He looked down on the company, but he wanted it to become a shining line on his precious son’s résumé.
So there it was-he had sent his son, who was still in college, to intern under me.
And caused me no small amount of trouble.

I had plans to go sing karaoke with my best friend that night, but my five-year-old daughter just would not go to sleep.
