I hurried forward.
I heard the little brat holding Fang Chao’s hand, putting on a foolishly cute act.
“Uncle, this is the first time Mommy and I have visited this place, and we don’t know the way. Can we go with you?”
I pulled him over. “I’m so sorry. The child is just being mischievous.”
Fang Chao looked at me, his eyes lighting up.
His eyes crinkled into a smile. “Not at all. He’s very cute. I happen to be bored on my own, so let’s go together.”
Gentle and kind.
He was the polar opposite of Qi Zhiye.
I hadn’t even done anything yet, but by the time we finished walking through a few streets, I felt like An’an had already succumbed to his charms.
His little milky voice was becoming increasingly high-pitched and cutesy.
We browsed until evening, and An’an even fell asleep peacefully in Fang Chao’s arms.
I reached out.
“Sorry for the trouble.”
Fang Chao didn’t let go, smiling at me warmly.
“My driver has already arrived. If you don’t mind, let me take you home.”
With the target being so proactive, how could I possibly mind?
On the drive back, Fang Chao barely spoke, worried about waking An’an.
I called out to the System: “Did your search for a new stepmother succeed?”
My mind was as silent as a grave.
“System?”
The System replied, sounding utterly drained of the will to live. “Heh, success? Someone tried to flirt with him, and he told them straight up that he’s impotent. Someone said the weather was a bit hot, and he told them to jump in the river to cool off-he even said he could help push them in! I’m so angry I need to take a few days off to calm down!”
After dropping that bombshell, it went silent.
I was in a great mood.
When I turned to look at Fang Chao, I couldn’t help but let the corners of my lips curl up.
He froze for a moment.
Then he spoke.
“Does Miss Cheng have a partner right now?”
I did.
But the damn System wouldn’t let me acknowledge him, and it wanted you to be my new partner.
Squeezing out a lonely, abandoned expression, I replied, “No.”
As I leaned in to take An’an back, I spoke from a very close distance. “What about you, Mr. Fang? You’re such a good person; surely you aren’t single?”
Fang Chao’s earlobes turned red.
He handed me a business card.
“I am single. So, if Miss Cheng needs a shopping companion in the future… or anything else, you can find me.”
“Would that be too much trouble for you?”
“How could it be? It would be my honor.”
Taking the card, I carried An’an out of the car.
Just as I was about to thank Fang Chao, An’an suddenly muttered in my ear, “Crap, the old man is going crazy.”
In the next instant, I saw Fang Chao clutch his head and stagger back a couple of steps, leaning against the car.
He knit his brows and looked toward the building behind me. “An S-rank?”
