Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Jiang Sizhu’s expression shifted, but she didn’t respond further.
After removing the face mask, I washed my face and went downstairs.
“She has a boyfriend.”
Holding an umbrella, I saw Pei Lu standing downstairs like a lovesick puppy, gazing deeply at our dorm, and couldn’t help but add a remark.
He froze, pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses on the bridge of his nose, and said apologetically:
“Sorry, I didn’t know.”
Jiang Sizhu didn’t even tell him?
His expression darkened as he lowered his head, trying to toss the black rose in his hand into the trash can.
I watched the rose getting drenched in the rain and felt it was a shame.
A black rose, my favorite.
“Wait, don’t throw it away. Give it to me.”
He glanced at the rain-soaked black rose with a self-deprecating smile and handed it over.
“Okay.”
At that moment, his white shirt was soaked through from the rain, clinging to his faintly visible abs.
Clean, courteous, with abs, tall, obedient.
Most importantly, rich.
Honestly, he fits my taste quite well.
“Hey.”
I called out to him.
He turned around, looking confused.
“I don’t have a boyfriend yet. Pursue me.”
I held the umbrella out to him, sheltering him.
I’m not bad-looking. I wake early and sleep on time, keeping a healthy routine.
I run six kilometers every morning, eat healthy meals at night, and do a face mask every day.
There are far more people pursuing me than Jiang Sizhu, but I’ve turned them all down.
He took off his gold-rimmed glasses and silently looked at me.
Time seemed to pass for a long, long time-long enough for his assistant to come with an umbrella, long enough for his car to arrive downstairs.
“Okay.”
He took down my phone number and left.
I turned and went upstairs.
I had looked up Pei Lu’s background. He started his own business right after graduation, and the company kept growing. Once he goes back to inherit the Pei Group, he’ll be very wealthy.
So I can’t understand Jiang Sizhu.
Maybe because my parents always fought over money and eventually divorced, my number one criterion for a partner is wealth.
With money, you don’t have to argue over daily household expenses.
Back in the dorm, Jiang Sizhu saw the flower in my hand and her expression soured.
“You don’t have to worry anymore. He won’t bother you again.”
I put the flower down and said to her while drying my hair.
I thought she’d breathe a sigh of relief or feel unburdened, but instead her face darkened even more.
“You’re so cheap.”
…
?
she spat out.
Jiang Sizhu’s voice wasn’t loud, but it was clear enough to instantly silence the whole dorm.
My drying motion paused; the towel slipped from my hand and splashed water on the floor.
I usually dislike using violence, but at that moment, I slapped her across the face.
Neither of us were the type to lose control, but that day, there was a suppressed, extreme emotion in her eyes.
I couldn’t read it, nor did I want to.
The roommates were terrified. Some tried to mediate, some held us back, some said I went too far, while others said she was a hypocrite.
But I truly didn’t understand.
She clearly said she didn’t want it, clearly said it was a nuisance. How did it become “stealing” when I took over?
