Chapter 2

Master circled around me three times. “Where exactly are you going with my family heirlooms, Disciple?”

I’d seen my fair share of storms, so the lies came naturally. “Master, I didn’t want to disturb you, but I’ve been missing you so much every day that I actually suffered a cultivation deviation while practicing. Do you have any medicine for it?”

I figured if Master had the right medicine, it should be no problem to treat Wangxin’s deviation.

Master looked awkward, but he immediately flicked an immortal pill toward me.

I snatched the medicine and bolted.

When I reached Wangxin, I fed it to him. Before long, he had successfully regulated his breathing.

I gave him a flirtatious smile. “Does the Buddha Venerable want to engage in Dual Cultivation with me? Being with a female disciple is the latest trend in the Cultivation World these days.”

Wangxin looked at me, a sudden realization dawning on him. “You wouldn’t happen to be the only female disciple left in the Cultivation World, would you?”

Damn it, was this little fact common knowledge now?

It was truly embarrassing to be the last female disciple from the Hehuan Sect who hadn’t managed to seduce her own Master.

I pinned Wangxin down directly. “I’ve heard people say that someone like the Buddha Venerable, who is devoid of desires, is considered a low-difficulty target?”

I had the looks, the body, and the professional expertise. The Buddha Venerable could just consider this a bit of field practice for me.

Unexpectedly, Wangxin grabbed my hands, his voice devoid of emotion. “Why don’t you go find your Master from the Hehuan Sect?”

Because I couldn’t land him, obviously, but I couldn’t say that.

“My Master is too much of a playboy. I like men like you.”

Wangxin lowered his head in thought, a smile curling at the corners of his lips.

After a long moment, he looked up with a look of pure innocence. “But this poor monk doesn’t understand Dual Cultivation.”

What a coincidence-it was my first time, too.

Recalling what I had learned, I leaned in and pressed my lips against Wangxin’s. The scent of temple incense swirled around my nose.

Suddenly, I heard voices approaching from the distance.

Wangxin opened his eyes and cast a barrier to hide the two of us.

“This barrier won’t affect the outside, and those outside can’t see or hear what’s inside. You don’t need to be afraid.”

This spell was excellent; it would be incredibly useful for my future endeavors.

Wangxin seemed to read my mind and chuckled. “Continue. I’ll teach it to you later.”

I thought so too-best to finish the business at hand first.

But in my daze, I heard someone say, “Yunqi, I heard that disciple of yours hasn’t been bothering you lately?”

The name ‘Yunqi’ snapped me out of my passion. I hurriedly opened my eyes to look, and sure enough, Master was strolling with someone in the distance.

If he saw me fooling around with someone here, I was afraid my life would be forfeit.

Seeing the two of them getting closer, I quickly sent a telepathic message: “Is this barrier of yours reliable?”

Wangxin’s voice, sounding somewhere between holy and wicked, drifted into my mind. “It’s reliable. Why don’t you just take me as your Master instead?”

I asked in surprise, “Can the Buddhist sects even take in a female disciple?”

I forgot to use telepathy. Outside the barrier, Master seemed to sense something and actually stopped in his tracks.

I was so scared I held my breath. Wangxin stopped as well, looking at me with a playful glint in his eyes.

In an instant, his expression turned cold. “You lied to me,” he said flatly. “You don’t like me.”

Wangxin reached out and snapped his fingers. The golden barrier vanished.

My heart screamed, *No!*

Master stood ahead of us. Seeing me and Wangxin appear, his face turned ashen.

Master, your disciple is… doing some extracurricular practice. Do you believe me?
