Chapter 3
Chapter 3
The sky gradually darkened.
Lao San and the others grew a little anxious as they looked for rooms to settle into.
Sirens usually came out under the moonlight. This instance was clearly one where night was dangerous.
The rest of the group paired off as well.
Each room could sleep two people.
In the end, only I, Lao San, and Huaichen were left.
I was disabled, so no one wanted to be with me.
Huaichen was so devastatingly handsome that he felt almost aggressive. Most people tended to keep a respectful distance from things that were too beautiful, so aside from me, no one spoke to him at all.
As for Lao San, he had been left behind because the refined middle-aged man had taken a room with the beautiful woman called Hualing. All Lao San could do was curse under his breath while finding a room for himself.
When Lao San saw me, he hesitated.
“Girl, why don’t you come share a room with me? At least I can look after you a little.”
Huaichen suddenly linked his arm through mine and looked at me without saying a word.
Lao San froze for a moment, then snapped angrily.
“Pretty boy, what damn use are you? You’re a young woman, your ears are already deaf, so how are you blind too?”
Fuming, he went into a room by himself and slammed the door shut.
Me: “…”
At least give me a chance to accept your offer first.
Huaichen let go of my arm, casually picked a loose thread from my sleeve, and flicked it away.
“There was a thread.”
Uh…
This…
The thing that was broken was my ears, not my brain.
I entered a room and climbed onto a bed.
Huaichen glanced at me, got onto the other bed, then silently pulled a pair of earplugs from his pants pocket.
I had just been about to speak.
Then he took out an eye mask and sighed.
“I’m a light sleeper. I have to wear earplugs and an eye mask when I sleep. I didn’t expect them to come in handy, but sure enough, opportunities favor the prepared.”
I had nothing to say…
Everyone who came here was a real talent.
I should focus on keeping myself alive.
I took off my hearing aid and soon fell asleep.
But in the middle of the night, I was still jolted awake by a violent shaking.
I looked out the window and saw something darting back and forth through the pitch-black sea.
A shaft of moonlight pierced the clouds and fell onto a reef.
I clearly saw a breathtakingly beautiful creature sitting on the reef, combing his long hair. His gaze turned toward me.
The window was obviously so small, yet somehow, his eyes seemed able to pass through layer upon layer of obstacles and land precisely in mine.
His lips parted as if he were singing.
I got out of bed and walked step by step toward the window.
Huaichen got up. He covered my eyes and said lightly, “Go to sleep. There’s nothing worth looking at. Just a fish.”
He sounded completely careless.
But through the gaps between his fingers, I saw that the moment those words left his mouth, the breathtakingly beautiful Siren’s expression abruptly changed. Fangs bared, he shot into the sea and swam toward us at an inhuman speed.
Then the ship gave a slight lurch.
I snapped to attention and scrambled back onto the bed.
“Sorry, sorry. It’s a bit of a shame I can’t hear your song, but I can sleep just fine!”
I quickly closed my eyes and went back to sleep.

Horror Game: Siren’s Curse
I was dragged into a horror game instance and forced to listen to a Siren sing.
I took off my hearing aids and stared blankly at the Siren baring its fangs.
“Sorry, sorry. I may...
