Chapter 1
Chapter 1
By accident, I was dragged onto a horror cruise ship and forced to play through a game instance with a group of strangers.
The only way out was to clear it.
There were eighteen of us in total, and more than half were newcomers.
A few veterans looked us over without the slightest restraint. Some wore contempt on their faces, some looked numb, and some smiled kindly, though their eyes were painfully fake.
I quietly adjusted the hearing aid on my ear.
Trying to make myself seem even smaller in the crowd.
I had long heard that there was a mysterious kind of instance in this world, one that could grant people’s wishes.
I never thought my turn would come today.
I didn’t know whether that was a good thing or a bad thing.
Of course, not everyone believed in something so bizarre.
One of the newcomers among us broke down first.
He charged toward the exit like a madman, only to be bounced back with a loud bang. He collapsed on the floor in a sorry heap, groaning.
The veterans laughed without restraint.
A veteran with a full beard sneered and said,
“Once you’re in an instance, you follow the instance’s rules. Before the instance ends, no one gets out. People can die in instances like this, but you don’t have to panic too much. There are life-saving items inside. You’d better keep your wits about you, though. Don’t get yourselves killed because you’re too clueless.”
“Lao San!” A refined-looking middle-aged man shot him a disapproving look, clearly not wanting the bearded man to say any more.
Lao San said helplessly, “Big Brother, I’m not that kindhearted. I’m telling them because in my last instance, I ran into a moron newbie who used a life-saving item as firewood and burned it. I nearly died in there too. So all of you had better wise up. If anyone ruins things for me or gets in the way of me leaving, I’ll kill them first.”
After he finished, his fierce gaze swept around the room before landing on me. He froze for a moment.
“They’re even dragging disabled people in now?”
Me: “…”
This world was not very friendly to disabled people.
Just then, a sweet voice rang out over the cruise ship.
[Congratulations, players. You have discovered a clue and unlocked a new storyline.]
[Welcome to the Ship of Odysseus.]
[Odysseus set sail for home with his heroes. Along the way, they endured countless hardships and dangers, only to encounter a beautiful Siren at sea…]
[Dear crew members, please survive the Siren’s song.]
[And help the Siren fulfill her wish within seven days. Otherwise, the game will reset.]
[Have fun.]
Lao San’s face went pale.
Several of the veterans began muttering among themselves.
“Story-based ones are the biggest pain. You have to unlock the plot, stay alive, and meet the conditions before you can get out.”
“Who knows what the Siren’s wish is?”
“Still, a newbie instance shouldn’t be too difficult.”
“Let’s focus on surviving the first day safely, then see how to unlock more of the story.”
Everyone quickly moved toward the player who had triggered the new storyline.
He was an extraordinarily handsome man, very tall, with a straight, upright bearing.
I followed them over and saw the cruise ship’s name written on the wall of the hall-the Ship of Odysseus.

Horror Game: Siren’s Curse
I was dragged into a horror game instance and forced to listen to a Siren sing.
I took off my hearing aids and stared blankly at the Siren baring its fangs.
“Sorry, sorry. I may...
