Chapter 4
Chapter 4
Song Tao took a few steps back, then raised the knife in his hand again. Lu Lingzhu and I both instinctively thought he was going to continue the Ox-Cutting. Unexpectedly, he lunged forward a few steps, the blade swerving off at an angle, and suddenly thrust it hard at me.
I wanted to dodge to the side, but Jiang Haoyan was right behind me. If I moved, he’d be completely unprotected, and that knife would definitely land on him. Jiang Haoyan was still carrying my backpack, and whenever he went somewhere crowded, he always habitually wore the backpack on his chest.
If I dodged, that razor-sharp strike would definitely slash through my 108-yuan hiking backpack.
I’d just bought it. I couldn’t stand that.
So I dodged halfway, then barely pulled my body back, twisted at the waist, and went to snatch the knife from Song Tao’s hand.
Jiang Haoyan was stunned.
“Qiao Moyu, watch out!”
Song Feifei was stunned too.
“Damn, Lingzhu, she’s really protecting Xiao Jiang! Would you protect me like that too?”
Lu Lingzhu shook her head. “Not even for your mom.”
“Not for your dad either. Not for anyone in your whole family.”
“Enough nonsense. Run!”
The moment Song Tao moved, it was like he had given a signal. Everyone else raised their short knives and charged at us. I wrested the knife from Song Tao’s hand, and Lu Lingzhu flew up with a kick and knocked over two people.
“Sweeping Thousands of Troops-”
The villagers clearly hadn’t expected that the few of us, despite being so strikingly beautiful, would actually be this skilled and this agile. They were caught completely off guard.
We took the chance to break out of the crowd and sprint toward the foot of the mountain, with Lu Lingzhu in the lead.
“Wasn’t this supposed to be Ox-Cutting? What are these people doing?”
Just as I was about to speak, a stabbing pain suddenly shot through my wrist, sharp enough to make me suck in a breath.
I looked down. I didn’t know what the claw on my wrist had sensed, but it was thrashing madly, trying to force its way out. Yet something was pinning it in place; no matter how hard it tried, it could only stick out a little over ten centimeters before going wild and clawing at my skin.
“Hiss-”
I hurriedly grabbed the lizard claw with my other hand to keep it from moving around.
That delay naturally slowed me down, and even Song Feifei, who had been running at the back, passed me.
Song Feifei let out a sigh of relief. “Good, good, good, I’m safe!”
After saying that, she put on another burst of speed and chased after Lu Lingzhu.
