Chapter 15

The four of us pressed back-to-back against one another. Lu Lingzhu was panting hard, cold sweat beading all over her forehead.

“Damn it. That old bastard lied to us.”

“What the hell are these lizardmen anyway? We never made it out. Are we going to be trapped here?”

Jiang Haoyan was growing just as agitated, his grip tightening around the dagger in his hand.

“But we came in through the water, didn’t we? If we can’t get out through the water, are we supposed to leave through the sky?”

I jolted all over.

“What did you say?”

Jiang Haoyan ducked his head.

“Is my emotional state not stable enough? Qiao Moyu, let me explain-”

I slapped his shoulder and burst out laughing.

“Hahahaha! I get it. I get it now!”

Reversed Script. Reversed Script. This was an inverted world.

After entering from the village, I had felt my body drop from a great height. We should actually have fallen from the sky.

And this underwater world clearly had more than one layer. If we dived deeper, we’d only fall into the next layer and run into even more dangerous monsters. If we wanted to get out, we had to go up through the top.

And I had another bold guess.

“I know how to deal with these lizardmen.”

“Lu Lingzhu, everything here works in reverse, so we have to use the opposite method to deal with our enemies!”

Lu Lingzhu suddenly understood.

“Damn, that makes sense. I get it too.”

Then she clenched both fists and slammed them hard into my stomach.

“Great Mighty Heavenly Dragon!”

The force sent me flying backward. I crashed straight into a lizardman, making it jump in fright.

My organs felt like they were twisting apart in pain. I nearly coughed up blood, and I was furious.

“Lu Lingzhu, what the hell are you doing?!”

Lu Lingzhu withdrew her hand in confusion.

“Huh? Why didn’t it work?”

“If the rules are reversed, then my spell fails when I hit an enemy. Shouldn’t it work if I hit one of our own?”

I cursed at her in rage.

“What kind of garbage logic is that? You idiotically stupid donkey!”

The lizardmen had all gathered together. After Lu Lingzhu blasted me away, a few of them scattered in panic. Now, seeing me standing still, they immediately stuck out their tongues and swarmed toward me.

I pulled a Thunder Summoning Incantation talisman from my chest.

I didn’t throw it into the air. I slammed it straight into the water.

“Pure evil, be swept away. By fate’s talisman, heed my call. Soldiers of thunder, carry out the punishment-”

BOOM-

The moment I finished the Thunder Summoning Incantation, massive sheets of purple lightning suddenly erupted through the water. Several of the lizardmen surrounding me were instantly blasted into black charcoal.

Lu Lingzhu’s eyes went wide.

“Holy crap, what did you just chant?”

I grinned smugly and pulled out another talisman.

“Just recite the Thunder Summoning Incantation backward. Come on, let’s clear out these lizardmen first, then figure out how to get up there.”

“Got it! Qiao Moyu, your brain really does work!”

Lu Lingzhu beamed and pulled out a huge handful of talisman papers.

“Nine Heavens Mystic Tone, urgently summon all gods. No, no, summon all gods urgently? Wait, that’s not right. I have to start from the last line… Sweep away the evil spirits, ah, no.”

“Feifei, you do it!”

“Useless!”

I snatched the stack of talisman papers from Lu Lingzhu. “I’ll do it.”

As I tucked the talismans into my chest, I formed hand seals and began reciting the spell backward.

Once the spell took effect, these lizards were instantly far easier to deal with. After burning through a few talismans, the lizardmen on the street were either dead or fleeing, leaving only corpses and severed limbs strewn across the ground.

We found a stilt house and climbed up to the roof. Lu Lingzhu took the lead, leaping high into the air, and instantly vanished from our sight.

Everyone was overjoyed.

“This method really works.”
