Chapter 15
Chapter 15
My body instinctively backed away as the head in front of me lifted.
I could tell at once that it belonged to a young woman. Her eyes had been sewn shut into a single line with thick, crude stitches. She had no nose, and the entire lower half of her face was nothing but one enormous mouth.
That bloody maw split open, revealing a mouthful of razor-sharp teeth. They weren’t like a normal person’s teeth, either. They were like a shark’s, packed in more than a dozen dense rows. Then her head shot forward and snapped at me.
I immediately retreated, but the pit was narrow. The moment I stepped back, my spine hit another head.
I whipped around and saw countless heads emerging from the circular wall of the pit, just like the hands outside the wall earlier.
I’d always considered myself pretty brave, but faced with something this bizarre, I couldn’t help panicking.
“Five Thunder Command!”
With trembling hands, I pulled out the Thunderstruck Wood Talisman and blasted wildly, clearing out the heads in front of me. Not daring to keep fighting, I hurriedly climbed up from the bottom of the pit.
This time, standing on the floor, I didn’t dare wander around.
But I never expected this pagoda to be so unreasonable.
I stood perfectly still, yet the floor beneath me began to move. I watched the entire ground start to rotate. The floor clattered and clicked, and that familiar feeling of weightlessness hit me. Once again, the ground vanished beneath my feet.
Waiting for me at the bottom of the pit were countless arms, just like before.
I fought with everything I had, found a chance to escape back up, took only a few steps, and fell into another pit.
I felt like my consciousness was starting to blur.
Inside the pitch-black tower, there were countless round, deep pits. It was as if no matter where you walked or how hard you struggled, an even bigger pit would always be waiting for you.
I couldn’t even remember how many times I’d fallen anymore.
This time, there were no messy arms, heads, mouths, or tongues in the pit. There was only a long-haired woman in white, crouching in the corner with her back to me.
I was already exhausted. The repeated plunges, the pits in every direction, my completely shattered sense of direction, and the countless times I’d chanted thunder spells had left my temples aching like they were being stabbed with needles.
I really wanted to just lie down and give up on everything. Let the other party eat me if they wanted.
But I couldn’t. The instinct to survive still forced me to hold tight to the peachwood sword in my hand. I walked up to the woman in white and swung down without hesitation, chopping her on the back of the head.
Her head tucked in, and her whole body stiffened.
In the next second, she lost it completely. With a ghostly shriek, she charged at me and started beating the hell out of me.
Her face was covered by her hair, and she moved so fast that I couldn’t actually make out her features. But the way she fought was incredibly familiar.
They were all dirty, underhanded moves. One look and you could tell she was a lowlife-sleazy, shameless, and cunning.
After she kicked me several times in a row, I finally found an opening, pinned her to the ground, and slammed a fist hard into her shoulder.
Then, before she could fight back, I put on a surprised act. “Huh? Lingzhu?”
Lu Lingzhu’s slap froze in midair. The next second, without the slightest hesitation, she smacked me right on the forehead.
Only after smacking me did she pretend to be confused and reach up to sweep her hair aside.
“Huh? It’s you, Qiao Moyu.”
I was furious. “You already recognized me, so why did you still hit me?”
Lu Lingzhu said with perfect confidence, “Oh, come on. You know me. I’m slow. My brain didn’t catch up in time.”
As she spoke, she pushed me off and sat up straight.
“This damn place is seriously haunted!”
“Why are you here? Where’s Song Feifei?”
Lu Lingzhu said that not long after she and Feifei walked out, they saw Song Tianming.
The guy had been acting sneaky, like he was afraid of being seen, and headed all the way toward the rear courtyard. She and Song Feifei followed him at once and came all the way to this pagoda.
The first floor of the pagoda was empty and had nothing in it. When the two of them heard movement coming from above, they went up the stairs.
After climbing for a while, the floor suddenly gave way beneath her feet, and she nearly fell to her death.
“I used every ounce of strength I had just to climb back up, and then I ended up falling into pit after pit. It was disgusting as hell.”
“Pretty much the same as me.”
I told Lu Lingzhu everything that had happened to me, especially emphasizing that there had been another Song Tianming on my side. We had also been led by him to this pagoda.
Lu Lingzhu’s brows knitted tightly.
“Two Song Tianmings?”
“Ah, no. One. There was one who tried to hurt me just now, and I killed him. So now there should be one left.”
I asked Lu Lingzhu, “What do you think he is? He isn’t Wriggling Grass, and he doesn’t have any evil aura either.”
Lu Lingzhu pressed both hands to her temples.
“Ugh, I’m not thinking about it. My head hurts. Let’s get out of here first.”
