Chapter 3
Everything was ready. It was time to act.
I unzipped the cat carrier, reached inside, pinched Jiang Jiang’s tail between my fingers, and rubbed it in my palm.
Oh my god! There really was a change! Signs of life!
I pressed my lips together and observed, my head dipping lower and lower.
Cheng Yi’s fingers gripped the edge of the stone table. His head tilted slightly as he glanced at me out of the corner of his eye.
“You’re too close.”
He tried to cover himself with his other hand, his voice low and hoarse.
But he did his best to keep his tone steady.
“The experiment is over. It’s real.”
Oh, please. We were just getting started.
The shyer he got, the more excited I became-not like that.
Without making it obvious, I grabbed his hand and pulled it away.
“You don’t want other people finding out that an Olympic champion is doing this in a park, do you?”
I coaxed him, “Let’s test it a little longer, okay?”
Cheng Yi’s chest trembled faintly. A strained inhale slipped from him, and his fingers dug even harder into the edge of the table, his knuckles turning white.
He seemed to be undergoing an intense internal struggle.
In the end, as if surrendering to temptation, he moved his hand away.
“Okay.”
At that moment, my lust-no, curiosity overcame my caution.
I really was curious. How could that place turn into a mineral water bottle?
We were already here. What was the harm in looking?
I stroked Jiang Jiang’s tail again and again.
Cheng Yi’s gray sweatpants slowly began to rise.
Like some kind of post-rain wonder of nature.
Cheng Yi’s eyes were half-lidded, flushed red from his collarbones all the way to the tips of his ears.
He had a beautiful pair of phoenix eyes, hooked at the inner corners and upturned at the outer corners.
We were very close, close enough that I could see the crease of his hooded lids sweeping up from the corners of his eyes.
A faint red colored the ends of his eyes, reflected against the rosy flush across his face. It was ridiculously seductive.
My face heated before I realized it.
Just then, Jiang Jiang, apparently pleased by all the petting, turned his head and licked his tail.
Cheng Yi let out a muffled groan, his breathing breaking apart.
Oh no.
Cat tongues had barbs on them, didn’t they?
I hurriedly wrapped my hand around Jiang Jiang’s tail so he couldn’t lick it anymore.
Then I lifted my head-and nearly jumped out of my skin.
My hand curled and clenched on instinct.
“Dad!”
Cheng Yi stiffened from my not-so-gentle squeeze, his eyes flying wide as he stared at me.
His expression seemed to say, “Isn’t it a little inappropriate for you to call me that?”
I grabbed his head and turned it for him.
He looked over, saw my dad, and blurted out, “Dad?”
Once my dad saw Cheng Yi’s face clearly, he instantly lowered the stick in his hand and grinned so wide his teeth showed.
“Hey!”
Not far away, my mom saw what was happening and also tossed away the brick in her hand as if nothing had happened.
Cheng Yi clearly hadn’t expected to run into my parents here.
From where I was standing, I could see his pants.
It had gone down.
I couldn’t help but worry. Little Cheng Yi really had been through a lot.
In just a few short seconds…
He’d been licked by a cat, pinched by me, and then scared by my parents.
Was he really going to be okay?
This wouldn’t leave some lasting damage and cause him to be listless from now on, would it?
