Chapter 4

I took a deep breath.

Then I forced down the nausea rising in my throat.

The newlyweds had come over to toast us.

Sun Jiayi was wearing an enormous wedding gown, layer upon layer of tulle cascading down around her.

It hid her seven-month pregnant belly completely.

If you didn’t look closely, you couldn’t tell at all.

She held a wineglass and smiled sweetly at me.

“Sister-in-law.”

She filled a glass to the brim with red wine and held it out in front of me.

I quickly waved it away.

“I’m sorry, Jiayi. I’m allergic to alcohol.”

The moment I said that, her eyes suddenly reddened.

“Do you have something against me, Sister-in-law?”

Her voice instantly took on a sobbing edge.

“Is that why you won’t drink my toast…? But today is my big day…”

Everyone around us looked over.

I held back my anger and explained, “I really am allergic. If I drink it, something will happen.”

“But this is red wine!”

She blinked those watery eyes, her face full of innocence.

“Red wine isn’t alcohol…”

As she spoke, she shoved the glass toward my mouth.

I turned my head to dodge.

She refused to give up, and I kept dodging.

In the pushing and shoving, the wine sloshed out and splashed onto the hem of her dress.

A reddish-brown stain spread across the white tulle.

I grabbed a napkin and crouched down, meaning to wipe it off.

But Sun Jiayi quickly shrank back and screamed, “What are you doing?”

I held up the napkin in my hand and moved a little closer.

“Jiayi, let me wipe it for you. If it dries, it won’t come out later.”

She desperately backed away.

“N-No need! I’ll take care of it myself!”

“I’ll help you.”

I leaned in again.

“I said no, no! Do you not understand human speech?”

Her voice suddenly rose, sharp enough to hurt the ears.

With that shout, the entire banquet hall fell silent.

Dozens of pairs of eyes all turned toward us at once.

“Jiayi, why are you reacting so strongly?”

My gaze landed on her oversized skirt.

Sun Jiayi’s body stiffened. Subconsciously, she gathered the skirt closer around herself.

She swallowed in panic, her eyes darting away for an instant.

When she raised her head again,

tears were already pattering down her cheeks.

“Sister-in-law, are you trying to ruin my wedding?

“It was bad enough that you poured wine on me, but why did you deliberately step on my skirt too? I’m pregnant!”

The moment she said that,

my mother-in-law rushed over at once and spread her arms, shielding Sun Jiayi behind her.

She glared at me as if fire would shoot from her eyes.

“Chen Linlin, what are you causing trouble for this time?

“You can’t have a child yourself, so you can’t stand seeing someone else have one, is that it? How can there be such a vicious woman like you? If anything happens to my grandson, I’ll tear you apart!”

The relatives’ gazes stabbed into me like knives.

They were filled with disgust and contempt.

Some people were even whispering, “How terrifying,” and “This eldest sister-in-law is truly wicked.”

Clutching my chest, I looked at Sun Jiayi with deep hurt, my eyes reddening too.

“Jiayi, how could you think that of me?

“I really only wanted to wipe off the wine stain. Once it dries, it won’t come off.”

I lowered my eyes, my voice sounding terribly wronged.

“Forget it. Today is your wedding. As long as you’re happy.”

Li Yonghao couldn’t stand watching anymore. Frowning, he stepped forward.

“Sister-in-law didn’t mean anything by it. She- Ah!”

Sun Jiayi secretly pinched him.

Li Yonghao stared at her with wide eyes.

“Why did you pinch me? I’m telling the truth! Can you stop acting paranoid all day long?”

Sun Jiayi’s face flushed bright red with anger.

Her lips trembled, and for a moment she couldn’t say a word.

My mother-in-law hurried forward to smooth things over.

Smiling, she waved at the relatives around us.

“It’s fine, it’s fine. Young people are just playing around. Hurry and sit down, everyone. Eat.”

Sun Jiayi bit her lip and dragged him toward another table.

She walked very slowly, very carefully.

The huge, fluffy skirt trailed slowly across the floor.

I couldn’t help curving my lips.

No wonder I couldn’t find Li Jiahao anywhere.

So he was hiding under her skirt.

How imaginative.

After Pairing with My Husband’s Bluetooth

I found a Bluetooth remote control in my husband’s bag.

I didn’t make a scene. I didn’t even confront him.

I just secretly paired it with my phone.
