Dadiao was incredulous. “What a vicious heart. You say you love me and like me, yet you want me dead?”

“It’s because I love you and like you that I want us to be together forever.”

Dadiao was speechless for a while. Then he asked, “What if I die first? Will you die for me too?”

At the thought, my heart hurt so much that tears sprang to my eyes.

Moved, he wiped them away. “Silly girl. We’ve known each other for so little time, and you’re already so deeply in love?”

I sniffed. “You’re the one who taught me the joys of being a woman. You’re mine now. How could you die before me? If you die, I’ll have a crystal coffin made to preserve your body perfectly. Whenever I miss you, I’ll come and look at you.”

“Why won’t you die with me?”

“I won’t be able to see anything if I’m dead. Of course I want to live so I can look at you. And I can keep your body from decaying. Isn’t that wonderful? But it’ll take a lot of ice, so I must save money.”

I kissed him. “I want you.”

“I don’t.”

I began taking his clothes off. Whether he wanted it wasn’t up to him.

Sometimes I planned our future with him.

“How many children do you want?”

“Whatever.”

“Then I’ll give you two sons and a daughter. We’ll keep living here. Let Wang Jinbao earn money for us to spend while we enjoy ourselves at home every day. Won’t it be wonderful?”

“What if he discovers I’m a man?” Dadiao asked.

I put on a fierce expression and drew a finger across my neck. “Then we’ll…”

“You’d dare kill someone?”

I shook my head. “How could you think of something so horrible? We can’t kill anyone! I mean we’ll run away. Take all his money and flee. Though he’s a little poor, so all his money isn’t much.”

“What do you think we should name our sons?” I asked.

“How can you be sure they’d be mine?”

“I don’t share a bed with Wang Jinbao anymore. Whose would they be if not yours?” Bashfully, I tapped his chest. “You wicked man. You’re so good. After experiencing you, how could I sleep with a weakling like Wang Jinbao?”

“I don’t think this is right. It’s a bit much, isn’t it? We’re living in the Wang family’s house and having an affair behind your husband’s back. Now you want to have my children too? Aren’t you afraid he’ll die of rage when he finds out?”

“He won’t find out.”

Dadiao was so beautiful that no one would suspect he was a man.

Just then, the door flew open.

My husband stood in the doorway with a roast chicken, his eyes bloodshot as he stared at us in disbelief.

I sat up in shock.

Dadiao unhurriedly straightened the clothes I had pulled askew.

His solid chest was exposed right in front of my husband.

I immediately blocked my husband’s view.

I was far too possessive.

I didn’t want anyone else looking at Dadiao.

My husband glared at me viciously. “Xu Jingniang! You’ve disgraced yourself as a wife and brought your lover into our home! I’ll divorce you and tell the whole world what you’ve done!”

“Why did I take a lover?” I snapped. “Because you can’t perform! Instead of examining yourself, you blame me? I’ve never seen such a shameless man!”

Indignant, I went on, “Divorce me, then! I may be an unfavored daughter of a concubine, but I’m still a young lady from a wealthy family. Living with you peasants every day has only dragged me down.”

I hugged Dadiao and said lovingly, “Once you divorce me, Dadiao and I will go off together and live happily ever after. You aren’t worth a single hair on his head, Wang Jinbao. You weakling.”
