Chapter 1
When I was desperately hungry for him, my husband went to his concubine’s room.
My husband had three concubines.
One man could hardly satisfy four women.
Yet my mother-in-law was forever telling me to be generous and take more concubines for him.
If generosity was a virtue, why was it demanded only of women?
I had a thousand things to say, but in the end, they became a single word: “Yes.”
Because silence was golden.
Speaking made you a shrew.
On all those nights when I could only hug my quilt and comfort myself, I couldn’t understand why I wasn’t allowed a concubine.
Then I saved an exceptionally beautiful man.
And I realized I could have a male concubine.
It was a bright, breezy day.
My body felt unbearably empty, with no way to relieve it.
So I went to stay at my country estate for a while.
The crown prince had recently disappeared, leaving everyone on edge, but I didn’t think it had much to do with me.
Until a man came tumbling into my estate.
He was gravely injured, his lips white, barely breathing.
My heart went out to him at once.
I believed he was a gift from heaven.
A breathtaking man I could keep and treasure.
I named him Dadiao—Big Eagle.
There was a physician on the estate. He deftly tended Dadiao’s wounds and hinted that I should pay him to keep quiet.
I gave him a tael of silver.
Dadiao was recovering from his injuries.
Every day, I stared at him and drooled.
To keep people from suspecting anything, I dressed him as a woman and said the people selling him had beaten him like this. I was sheltering him from his pursuers.
During that time, I went back to the house a few times.
My husband paid me the occasional token visit.
I never got my fill.
He really was a weakling. Utterly useless.
Perhaps he sensed my private contempt, because he became even less willing to visit my courtyard.
I grew more bored.
So once Dadiao’s injuries had healed a little, I climbed on top of him…
He looked stunned.
“Miss, isn’t… isn’t this a little too soon?” he stammered.
I gave him a reproachful look. “If it wasn’t for this, why would I have saved you? To do my good deed for the day?”
Then I started chuckling…
He couldn’t resist at all.
Because the physician had told him not to move.
So I moved.
Injured as he was, he was very well endowed. A hundred times better than my weakling of a husband.
Afterward, his wound reopened.
Dark red blood spread across it.
I licked my lips.
I felt terribly guilty.
I urged him to get well soon.
He was a little displeased, but with no choice but to live under someone else’s roof, he agreed.

I took a concubine for my husband.
The concubine was tall and long-legged, with broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and extraordinary beauty.
