Chapter 3
Chapter 3
Classmate Zhou.
It had been a long time since anyone called me that.
For two thirty-year-old adults to use that kind of address, there was a faint flirtatiousness to it.
“Classmate Jiang has such excellent qualifications. If you still did not meet the standard, I would look a little ungrateful.”
We were adults. Some things did not need to be said too plainly.
According to the usual process, if both people wanted to continue after a blind date, they exchanged contact information.
But I already had Jiang Chengzhi’s contact information.
The year we graduated, many classmates had added one another. It was just that most people never contacted each other after adding them.
Jiang Chengzhi and I were exactly like that.
I had once seen posts of him showing off his relationship. Among all the likes from our high school classmates, I had joined in too.
We had a very pleasant meal.
After it ended, Jiang Chengzhi walked out with me. His voice came from beside me. “I’ll take you home…”
Before he could finish, an Audi a few steps away lit up first.
Jiang Chengzhi froze, then chuckled. “That was presumptuous of me.”
I smiled at him. “I appreciate the thought. Let’s eat together again when we have time.”
As soon as I got in the car, I called my good friend Su Mei. “Did you know Jiang Chengzhi and Chen Xueyan broke up?”
It was a habit. Whenever there was gossip about high school classmates, I wanted to share it.
“What? They broke up!” Shock overflowed from the other end of the phone. “How do you know? I thought they were already married with kids!”
I kept it concise. “Jiang Chengzhi was my blind date today.”
“What!” Su Mei’s volume rose another level. “You wicked girl, your family found you such a high-quality blind date?”
“…” She had gone off topic.
But soon, the topic returned. Su Mei said, “I’ll ask around.”
Su Mei had been my desk mate in our senior year of high school. We had stayed close all these years. She was cheerful and popular, and ninety percent of the high school gossip I heard came from her.
When I got home, the house was still lively.
My eldest uncle and my youngest aunt had both come over with their children.
As I entered, I heard my mom complaining to her brother and sister.
“That wretched girl. I told her that if she did not marry, her father and I would be so worried we could not sleep. As a result, she drove two hundred kilometers overnight and stood at our bedside at three in the morning, prying our eyelids open…”
My uncle and aunt were laughing so hard they could not straighten their backs.
My younger cousins hid in the room next door, laughing too.
When they saw me come back, everyone’s eyes instantly fell on me.
“Qingtong is back? How was the blind date?”
My mom spoke first, with a little pride. “Zhou Qingtong, Mom did not lie to you, did I? He graduated from a top university, is talented and good-looking, one hundred eighty-five centimeters tall, and looks fresh and handsome. I even snatched him from someone else. I heard that boy is very clean and disciplined in his private life.”
“…”
My mom did have good taste.
Su Mei came back with the gossip.
She said Jiang Chengzhi and Chen Xueyan had been on and off, entangled for more than ten years. He had only ever dated one person.
They broke up half a year ago.

Who Is Laughing at My Mom
As the oldest unmarried young adult in my family, I had been suffering under the pressure to get married for years.
Eventually, I simply gave up fighting it.
My mom said she was so...
