Chapter 2

I was very good at arguing with heaven and earth, but it was the New Year holiday, and my mom still arranged the blind date.

Still, she was my biological mother after all.

The blind date had been chosen according to my requirements.

I had no idea how my mom managed it, but she had actually found an unmarried man who met every single one of my conditions.

To put it inappropriately, he was rarer than a giant panda.

The date was set at a restaurant. Business was good during the holiday, and the place was lively.

My mom sent me the reserved table number.

She swore this was the only blind date she had arranged recently, and that was why I came.

After entering, I quickly found the table.

But from my angle, the first thing I saw was the back of a man’s head.

He wore a black trench coat. He was not overweight, and at first glance, he had decent taste in clothes.

I walked straight over. “Sorry to keep you wait…”

Before I could finish, I saw his face clearly, and the words suddenly lodged in my throat.

I believed my mom had truly searched for a match within her circle.

The man before me had distinct features and a refined, handsome air.

He was also very familiar.

“Long time no see, old classmate.” Surprise flashed through his eyes too, then he smiled and greeted me.

Jiang Chengzhi.

My mom had managed to dig up my high school classmate from over a decade ago. Truly impressive.

“Long time no see.”

Jiang Chengzhi had not changed too much. He was still handsome, and even more charming now.

“The last time we met was at the teacher appreciation banquet after the college entrance exam, right? I did not expect my blind date to be you.”

“I did not expect it to be you either.” I raised an eyebrow and asked bluntly, “What, no one wants you either?”

Jiang Chengzhi laughed. “That’s right. I am old and unsold.”

“…”

I did not particularly like hearing that, since we had once been classmates and were the same age.

But Jiang Chengzhi had been a famous figure in our grade.

Grades, looks, and early romance.

A legend who had practically nursed his girlfriend into a 211 university.

“I remember you had a girlfriend,” I said with a smile. “I thought after all these years, you would be married by now.”

That sentence probably touched a sore spot.

Jiang Chengzhi was very calm. “Since I am out on a blind date, you should be able to tell that we broke up.”

I looked at the man across from me, and the flamboyant image of him in his youth surfaced in my mind.

A teenage boy and a thirty-year-old man were naturally different. Maybe my taste had changed, but I felt he looked even better now.

His girlfriend, or rather his ex-girlfriend, was someone I knew too.

Over the years, I had heard some gossip about them from mutual friends.

They had still been together when they graduated from university.

But now was not a good time to ask Jiang Chengzhi about it.

So we talked about our recent lives instead.

When I heard what Jiang Chengzhi did for work, I paused, then laughed.

“Zhou Qingtong, what are you laughing at?”

I laughed for quite a while before telling him the requirements I had given my mom for a blind date.

“I didn’t expect her to be so literal.” My smile had not faded.

Jiang Chengzhi’s income should not be too far from mine.

“So,” the man across from me suddenly said, “I meet Classmate Zhou’s standards for a partner?”
