I could not understand it. My entire life had gone smoothly.
Yet I had stumbled over Lu Qinian.
I was in a foul mood, so I dragged my roommate, Qiao Luo, out for drinks.
After several rounds, the alcohol went to my head.
Qiao Luo asked, “Don’t you like Lu Qinian? Why did you say all that today?”
My thoughts were hazy. I cupped my face and pondered for a long while.
“Because—because he won’t let me kiss him.”
“Waaah! Why won’t he let me have one kiss? I only want one. It’s not like I’m asking for the moon.”
Qiao Luo’s expression grew stranger and stranger.
Then her head multiplied into four.
I leaned closer for a better look, only for someone to grab the hood of my sweatshirt and pull me backward.
Confused, I tipped back with the force and turned to see who it was.
Before I could focus, someone cupped my head between his hands. I pried my eyes open and tried hard to see him.
Amusement softened a pair of handsome, refined eyes.
A man this gorgeous was looking at me like that. I understood immediately.
I threw myself at him, wrapped my arms around his waist, and wailed.
“Damn those husband-snatchers! How dare they steal my husband?”
“Hubby! Waaah, what took you so long?”
A soft laugh sounded above my head.
The man bent down, and his handsome face grew larger before my eyes, dealing me a devastating blow.
I instinctively leaned in, but he pinched my chin and held me still.
Even through the fog of alcohol, I heard the chill in his voice.
“Who are you calling that?”
At the worst possible moment, the woman in my head started shrieking.
【Stop! That is not your husband! Open those two giant bulbs you call eyes and look properly!】
Indignant, I flailed toward him.
“You—you are my husband! Waaah!”
“Hubby, say something!”
That beautiful face suddenly broke into a smile, delight written across every feature.
“Do you like your husband?”
I nodded so hard my head nearly fell off.
“Do you want me to kiss you?”
I nodded even faster.
Qiao Luo silently rose to her feet and added, “Yes, she calls you that in our dorm too.”
“I just remembered our room is on fire. I have to go.”
She took two steps, then backed up.
“Get her home safely, or I’ll rip your head off.”
He laughed again.
“Don’t worry. I won’t take advantage of her.”
“If I did, you wouldn’t have to lift a finger. I’d tear my own head off.”
Everything was so noisy. My husband was ignoring me to babble about who knew what.
Angrily, I swung my heavy head and rammed it into him.
“Ow! Why are you so hard?”
Instead of sending him flying as I had imagined, I only hurt my own head. His body was solid as rock.
Qiao Luo shot me an exasperated look and hurried away.
I tilted my face up and stared at the face that perfectly matched every inch of my taste. Desire stirred restlessly inside me.
“I like you. I want a kiss.”
I staggered upright, intending to kiss him.
As if he had predicted my move, Lu Qinian took a small step back.
I fell straight into his arms.
Being able to see him but not kiss him was torture.
“One kiss. Just one.”
I raised a finger.
Lu Qinian wrapped his hand around mine and pressed it down. His voice was helpless.
“Who asks for a kiss with their middle finger?”
He was too beautiful.
How could anyone be this beautiful? Every tiny movement of his eyes and brows as he spoke felt like eight hundred feathers tickling my heart.
When he smiled, light rippled through his eyes, and I could not look away at all.
“Do you really want a kiss?”
“I won’t take advantage of you, but if you keep this up, even I might—”
He lowered his head to my shoulder, his voice turning husky.
“Lose control.”
His rich, seductive voice fell beside my ear, his breath warm.

I was about to lose control!
I practically clawed at his shirt, trying to drag his head down.
Lu Qinian only smiled. He neither dodged nor retreated. His thick lashes fluttered like butterfly wings.
He bent with my pull.
Closer.
Closer still.
My lips were about to touch his.
Then he stopped and abruptly straightened.
I was going to explode.
Lu Qinian caught my wandering hands and said gently, “Youyou, you aren’t sober right now.”
“Let me take you home first, all right?”
The voice in my head kept screeching that he was not my husband.
Ha. I did not believe her.
I stared at him, aggrieved.
“Don’t you like me anymore?”
“Why won’t you even kiss me?”
Lu Qinian cupped my face and smiled.
Moonlight seemed to rest in his amber eyes, gentle and serene.
“I do like you.”
“It’s because I like you that I need to protect and respect you even more.”
I was about to answer when a piercing explosion went off inside my skull.
“Oh no. I can hear someone talking in my head.”
“I think I’m dying.”
The man before me laughed again and reached out to rub my head.
“You really are drunk.”
“I’ll massage it for you. That should help.”
“Then I’ll take you home.”
