Chapter 1

On the day of our divorce, my husband lost his memory.

The bad news was, we barely had any feelings for each other to begin with, and now the divorce was even less likely to happen.

The good news was, he had forgotten the past, which made it much easier for me to make my move. After all, I’d been lusting after him for a very long time.

Lou He. Height: 186 centimeters. Weight: 74 kilograms.

The man graduated from an Ivy League school, and every girlfriend he’d ever had had been an ABC.

If my grandfather hadn’t used an old debt of gratitude against his grandfather, this was a man I couldn’t have reached even on tiptoe. Literally couldn’t reach, because I was only 162 centimeters tall.

I still remembered the day of our blind date. He stood on a flowerbed, looking down at me from above, his brows slightly furrowed.

“Why are you squatting?”

At the time, I was bent over, stupidly searching for a four-leaf clover among a patch of three-leaf ones. Hearing that, I was extremely displeased.

“…I’m not squatting.”

His expression turned even uglier. “Looking at you from up here, I thought you might not be very tall.”

“Then come down and look.”

He actually came down. Standing on the same flat ground as me, he still faced me with those two handsome nostrils of his.

“And?”

“And you’ll realize I really am not very tall.”

Him: …

The Lou Family looked down on me, but they still held their noses and married me into the family.

Back then, his grandfather had gone to the countryside as an educated youth. Because he was close to my grandfather, he often came to our house to freeload meals. In those days, no one had enough to eat, so our already tight rations became even worse.

My dad had been at the age where he was still growing, and because of that, he’d actually starved himself into a stomach illness. Decades later, it still hadn’t been cured.

When his grandfather accidentally learned the truth, he insisted on putting the two of us together. Since Lou He refused, the old man cried miserably from his sickbed for half a month. Only after seeing our marriage certificate did he finally breathe his last.

To strengthen his resolve in looking down on me, after the wedding, this man stubbornly slept in the guest room for three whole months. Even when he talked to me, he kept a meter between us. He was practically a paragon of chastity, pure as ice and clean as jade.

If you ask whether I felt wronged, not really.

After all, for every day I lived in the house, he paid me according to my usual salary.

At the same time, we also agreed that if either of us ever found someone we truly liked, then we would sincerely offer our blessings, part on good terms, and go our separate ways. If not, then we would just share a roof and muddle through life together.

See? Other than not loving me, this man had no flaws.

So when I found out he had amnesia, the first thing I did was move our toothbrushes from two separate bathrooms into the same rinsing cup.

Excuse me, if we could brush our teeth together, could sleeping together be far behind?

To be honest, although I wasn’t tall, I was still pretty decent-looking. Back in school, I couldn’t compete with the school beauty, but I’d been called the class beauty all the way through.

I refused to believe that if heaven gave me a second chance, I still wouldn’t be able to win over Lou He!

What a joke.

Night fell. A Mercedes business van slowly drove into the garage. I quickly touched up my perfume and ran downstairs to hand him his slippers.

“Honey, you’re back?”

Lou He opened the door and froze for a moment when he saw it was me.

At this hour, he had definitely already eaten, but to show my attentiveness, I still stepped forward and greeted him warmly. “You must be tired, honey. I made dinner. Let’s eat together?”

“…Mm.”

Of course, actually cooking for him was out of the question.

Lou He sat across from me, his expression softening as he looked at the table full of takeout. “You worked hard, making so many dishes.”

“You worked hard too. You’ve been tired all day.”

A hypocritical married couple and our daily fake smiles.

After dinner, he went to shower. I deliberately turned on the mood lighting. The thin strap of my nightgown slipped from my fair collarbone, and I intentionally didn’t pull it back up, waiting until he appeared in the doorway, still damp from the shower.

At that moment, he looked at me deeply, and a hint of ambiguity quietly flashed by.

“Sleep early.”

My vision suddenly went dark. He had casually switched off the light. I was so angry I jumped off the bed on the spot. “Where are you going to sleep?”

Hearing that something was off in my voice, he stood by the door and asked, “What’s wrong?”

I stepped forward, grabbed him, and dragged him inside. “You’re already twenty-seven or twenty-eight. Have you ever seen a married couple sleep in separate rooms?”

He froze.

The curtains weren’t fully closed. Moonlight passed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, spreading a long, slender streak of frosty white across the bed. The object of my long-standing desire was now lying on the bed, his silk robe pulled into complete disarray by me. Beneath his stray locks was an impeccable face, and his expression was rather dazed.

“You really want to sleep with me?”

I had to admit, this scene was a little overwhelming.

I swallowed, lifted one of my legs, and hooked it firmly around his waist. “Of course.”

He was silent for a long moment.

“Sleeping like this… is it comfortable?”

“Very comfortable.”

“…All right.”

After a long while with no further developments, I reluctantly opened one eye to look at him, only to discover that he had already closed his eyes, his breathing long and even.

No, seriously? If you’re not comfortable, don’t you know how to show a little initiative?

With my eyes closed, I continued fanning the flames. “Honey, don’t you think it’s a little too quiet?”

“Of course it should be quiet when we’re sleeping.”

“You’re really lacking imagination. Although we’re sleeping statically, that doesn’t mean we can’t turn it into something dynamic.”

“Why would we need to make it dynamic?”

Get lost.

I yanked my leg off his waist, rolled over, and huffed, “Men. One little car accident and this is what happens. You used to call me Little Darling all the time, and now you’re so cold!”

After a moment of silence, an arm slipped around my waist and gently drew me in.

“All right. Sleep early, Little Darling.”

I was delighted and immediately pressed my advantage. “Besides Little Darling, you usually also call me baby.”

“Good night, baby.”

“Okay, big baby.”

Having hooked his waist and been called baby, I hugged Lou He’s arm and fell asleep perfectly satisfied.
