Chapter 1
Jeers and mocking laughter. The rustle of a breeze passing through luxuriant branches. The scent of grass lingering beneath her nose.
Those were the first things Yu Tai registered when she came to her senses.
“Junior Sister, what’s wrong? Hurry up. You’re the only one who hasn’t loosed an arrow yet. Your control over spiritual power is so good-don’t tell me you’re going to miss.”
The man beside her wore a white robe trimmed in blue. He looked every inch the ethereal immortal, but the malice on his face was so blatant that Yu Tai took an instant dislike to him.
Junior Sister? Who was he talking to? And what was spiritual power?
Utterly bewildered, Yu Tai followed the direction in which the others were tugging her and saw the miserable young man across from them.
His dark teal robe had been dyed red with blood. It hung in tatters, and cuts covered his entire body.
Loose black hair veiled half his face, hiding his features from view, but the skin left exposed was white as fresh snow. Even Yu Tai, who had never cared much about anyone’s looks, felt the urge to see the face beneath that hair.
“Junior Sister Yu, don’t let that good-for-nothing bewitch you. He colluded with demonic cultivators, and his Dao foundation was destroyed. He’s no longer Senior Brother Shu Li, the man who once cut across the Nine Provinces with a single sword.”
The speaker’s voice was full of regret and indignation, but the obsession in his eyes-and the dark pleasure taking root there-betrayed his true feelings.
Once a lustrous pearl fell into the mud, anyone could trample it.
Yu Tai finally understood.
Junior Sister Yu. Shu Li. Collusion with demonic cultivators.
If she still couldn’t work out that she had transmigrated into the novel she had finished a few days ago, then she really would be an idiot.
Yu Tai was the vicious female supporting character who shared her name: the beloved Junior Sister of everyone in the Qingshan Sword Sect, whose true identity was that of a demonic cultivator.
When the original Yu Tai’s identity had been on the verge of exposure, she had framed Shu Li for her own crimes. Handsome and distinguished, famed throughout the cultivation world as both a gentleman and a genius, he was also the novel’s male lead.
This was bad. If the original Yu Tai had personally come after Shu Li, didn’t that mean the Demon-Concealing Pearl was about to fail?
Yu Tai frowned.
The Demon-Concealing Pearl was an artifact that could mask demonic qi, and the original Yu Tai had relied on it heavily to hide her identity.
But its power had a time limit. The last time it failed, she had nearly been exposed. Fortunately for her, Shu Li had become her scapegoat.
That failure had only been a warning. If it failed again, its power would be gone forever.
At that thought, Yu Tai looked toward the man nearby. Even barely conscious, he carried himself with peerless grace.
The original Yu Tai had intended to use Shu Li’s pure flesh and blood to conceal her demonic qi.
But Yu Tai knew there was no time.
Never mind how she would get rid of the disciples around her. The most important problem was this:
Xia Mo, the heroine, was about to arrive!
And the first thing Xia Mo would do was kill everyone present!
The original Yu Tai would have her eyes gouged out, then bleed to death in agony.
“Senior Brothers, there’s no need to hurry. How about I tell you a secret first?” Yu Tai’s lips curved into a smile. Dressed in plain white with a jade-green robe over it, she was so lovely that the gathered disciples stared in a daze.
Junior Sister Yu was cold and aloof by nature. Few people had ever seen her smile.
Under their expectant gazes, a breathtaking smile blossomed across Yu Tai’s radiant face. Then she drawled, “It’s nothing important, really. I’m a demonic cultivator.”
The air fell silent for several seconds before the crowd exploded with laughter.
The man who had spoken first laughed loudest of all. “Hahaha! And here I thought it was something serious. Junior Sister Yu, you’re so funny! Then let me tell you a secret too. I’m actually a demonic cultivator as well-”
The instant he finished speaking, his vision flooded red.
The world turned upside down.
A piercing scream erupted from the crowd.
Only then did the man realize that his head had fallen off.
Yu Tai blew imaginary dust from her finger and shook her head regretfully. “Exactly. How could a delicate woman like me possibly be a demonic cultivator?”
Then she raised her clear, bright eyes and slowly swept them across the terror-stricken faces before her.
“Well? Are there any other Senior Brothers who don’t believe me?”
Unfortunately for them, she gave no one a chance to beg for mercy.
Within seconds, the disciples who had been laughing and talking so boisterously lay dead on the ground. Their bodies dissolved into pools of blood, leaving behind only severed heads, their faces still twisted in terror.
After disposing of the Qingshan Sword Sect disciples who had tormented the male lead, Yu Tai walked over to the unconscious man.
One slender finger slowly brushed aside the black hair covering half his face, finally revealing his features.
Unlike his battered body, his face showed no trace of pain.
His features were as flawless as polished jade, his elegant brows like strokes of mist. Not even the disarray of his loose hair could diminish the noble air of a banished immortal about him.
Yu Tai frivolously tipped up his chin and studied him for a long while. Only then did the amazement fade from her eyes, and she nodded in satisfaction.
Don’t misunderstand. Unlike her transmigrator predecessors, she had no interest whatsoever in clinging to the male lead.
Rather than coveting his undying love, it would be far more accurate to say she coveted his primordial yang essence.
The original Yu Tai had only wanted to devour the male lead’s flesh and drink his blood to conceal her demonic qi. But Yu Tai knew that compared with his flesh and blood, his primordial yang essence was the real treasure.
She yanked Shu Li roughly off the wooden target, cast a spell to shrink him, and stuffed him into her sleeve.
By her estimate, the heroine should be arriving right about now.
The thought had barely crossed her mind when Yu Tai’s gaze snapped unerringly toward a clump of grass.
A binding rope shot from her fingertip. A moment later, the sounds of a struggle came from within the undergrowth.
Yu Tai walked over.
Behind the grass, a plump black-and-white bear was trussed tightly in a golden rope. Hearing someone approach, it raised a pair of black eyes and snarled fiercely.
“Chirp!”
Unfortunately, the soft, milky squeak that emerged from its mouth did not match its ferocious expression in the slightest.
Apparently realizing that its voice carried no menace whatsoever, the panda rolled over pitifully, looking as though it had lost all hope in life.
Yu Tai chuckled. “Oh my, whose precious baby is this? If no one wants it, I suppose I’ll take it home.”
With that, she flicked another spell at the panda and tucked it into her sleeve as well.
The heroine really was adorable before taking human form. How convenient-Yu Tai happened to be short one demon beast.
That was right. This chubby panda was none other than the heroine of the novel, Xia Mo.
Xia Mo was a demon beast born from the natural forces of heaven and earth.
Yu Tai was in too much of a hurry to look closely at the Qingshan Sword Sect, lauded in the original novel as the greatest sect beneath the heavens.
Following the memories in her mind, she flew swiftly back to her cave dwelling.
As the Junior Sister doted on by everyone in the Qingshan Sword Sect, she naturally had a private cave dwelling of her own.
Yu Tai shut the door and activated the formation the original owner always used. Then she tossed Xia Mo out without untying the rope.
“Behave yourself and stay here. I won’t hurt your master.”
After a moment’s thought, she conjured a length of bamboo and stuffed it into Xia Mo’s chirping mouth. A friendly smile slowly spread across her face.
“I only want to sleep with him. That’s all.”
