Chapter 9
Chapter 9
In the end, I still went to visit Li Xinghe.
I just didn’t bring my sister along. Instead, I dressed up a little and went by myself.
The Li Family was loaded, so naturally, the room they chose for Li Xinghe was the best ward in a private hospital. It was a luxurious suite of over a hundred square meters. The door was left ajar, revealing a grand, lavish living room. There was none of that distinctive disinfectant smell hospitals usually had-only the faint, refined fragrance of sandalwood.
Looking farther in, I saw a man in a crisp suit standing by the doorway. The moment he saw me, his brows drew together.
“Who are you dressed like that for?”
I looked down at myself. A fitted midi dress paired with a wide waist cincher-not revealing, not seductive.
I had no idea which nerve of his I’d managed to step on this time. I spread my hands, rather helpless.
“But I have a great figure. It’d be such a waste not to dress like this.”
“…”
Past Li Xinglan, I could vaguely see someone lying on the hospital bed inside. I secretly pinched myself, forcing tears to well up in my eyes.
“Move. Don’t block me from seeing Xinghe.”
“…”
With a constipated look on his face, he let me in.
On the hospital bed, the person was wrapped tightly in his blanket. Perhaps he had heard the noise, because he turned slightly in my direction. His face looked pale, but his eyes were still bright.
I covered my mouth, trying my hardest to put on a heartbroken expression. “Xinghe, are you okay?”
“I know, your hands…”
He opened his mouth, then stopped as if he didn’t know what to say.
“Don’t be sad. I won’t look down on you. Oh, right, I know a few good psychologists in Wen City. When the time comes, I’ll introduce them to your brother too-”
I was still rambling on when he gave me a silent sideways glance. Then, from under the blanket, he suddenly…
Pulled out two perfectly intact arms.
Me: “?”
“Xinghe got lucky,” Li Xinglan, who had been watching coldly from the side the whole time, cut in. “That day, the dump truck’s steering wheel malfunctioned and caused a three-car pileup. The car in front of him was crushed flat! Good thing he wasn’t racing that day. He managed to brake in time and bumped up onto the curb.”
I was a little stunned. “Then why is he in the hospital?”
“The rear end of the car in front clipped him. Some soft tissue bruising, that’s all.”
There was lingering relief in Li Xinglan’s tone, the kind that came after surviving a disaster. But as he looked at the person sitting up by the bed, his face was full of doubt.
“But don’t you usually drive at two hundred? Why were you only going eighty that day?”
For a moment, the hospital room fell silent.
Then, on the magnolia-pale face of the person before me, a flush suddenly spread.

Top-Tier Knockoff
Just now, I found the note my fiancé had saved me under in his phone.
“Top-tier A-grade knockoff.”
Those four words were enough to make my blood run cold.
