Chapter 5
Everyone burst into cheers.
The Sixth Princess joined in as well.
Aunt An didn’t dare let her touch the scissors or needles, so she let the Sixth Princess paint the clay figurines instead.
I was gratified to see that the words “Villainess Supporting Character” above the Sixth Princess’s head had dimmed a bit.
I suddenly realized that this might be the reason for my transmigration.
It seemed I had the power to change the Sixth Princess’s fate as a Villainess Supporting Character.
Before dark, we managed to finish the twelve zodiac animals. I had originally planned to hang the cloth dolls in a row by the Sixth Princess’s bed.
However, Aunt An put them away and sighed, “Let’s wait for a better opportunity to hang them.”
The smile on the Sixth Princess’s face instantly collapsed.
Everyone thought of Aunt Song.
She was rigid, severe-a walking book of palace regulations.
She would never allow such messy items on the Sixth Princess’s bed.
While putting things away, I quietly asked Aunt An.
“Is Aunt Song always like this?”
I asked very cryptically.
What I actually wanted to ask was: does no one really care that she ‘teaches’ the princess late into the night?
Aunt An’s expression darkened.
“She is the Wet Nurse left to the Princess by Consort E. Her rank is higher than mine.”
I understood.
A Wet Nurse always held a high status in the palace, and since she was left behind by Consort E, who had already passed away, the situation was even more delicate.
If the Princess were to truly drive Aunt Song away, the weight of ‘filial piety’ alone could crush her.
Unless Aunt Song committed a capital offense, or the Emperor or Empress discovered she was truly harming the Princess, ordinary people really couldn’t do anything about her.
When I read history books, I used to see princesses being completely manipulated by the nannies and maids around them and thought those princesses were truly spineless.
But only by being in the depths of the palace does one understand that when a person is subjected to a disciplined environment for a long time, it is very difficult to find the strength to break free.
“Then… what does she teach the Princess?”
“I can’t go in,” Aunt An’s voice was cold. “Besides feeding her medicine, she probably corrects her sleeping posture, her etiquette, and things like that.”
Me: “…”
How twisted!
Aunt Song wasn’t even afraid that Consort E would come looking for her in the middle of the night.
When night fell, it was another round of crying, silence, crying, and silence.
I didn’t know how the Princess was doing.
I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
Early the next morning, everyone was listless.
The Princess was also grumpy from lack of sleep, her small face looking incredibly gloomy.
I performed the craft of making hairpins while the Princess watched and ate her breakfast.
After she finished eating, Aunt An hesitated for a moment.
“Sui’an, you accompany the Princess to the Hall of Literary Brilliance today.”
“Yes!”
I slung the book bag over my shoulder.
I took the Sixth Princess’s small hand.
She froze for a moment, then obediently squeezed my hand back. The words “Villainess Supporting Character” above her head flashed and dimmed a bit more.
I couldn’t help but curl my lips into a smile.
She was so cute; she was actually very easy to please.
Once we were outside the palace and saw people in the distance, we tacitly let go of each other’s hands.
When no one was around, we quietly held hands again.
It felt like being a thief-thrilling and fun.
When we arrived at the Hall of Literary Brilliance.
The Sixth Princess went inside and sat in her seat.
Not long after, several princes entered, surrounding a beautiful, snowy-skinned little girl. The group was laughing and chatting, but as they passed the Sixth Princess, they let out cold snorts, looking utterly disdainful.
I took a quick glance and then lowered my head.
That little girl was Princess Zhen’an.
She also had two words above her head: Female Lead.
The Crown Prince had “Second Male Lead” written over him.
The Third Prince had “Villainous Male Supporting Character” written over him.
Good heavens, all the important characters had made their appearance.
I could almost piece together a whole novel in my head.
The Crown Prince and Princess Zhen’an grew up together. He loved Princess Zhen’an, but due to their relationship as adoptive siblings, he could only protect her silently, becoming her most powerful backer.
As for the Third Prince, his love would go unrequited. In the early stages, he would protect Princess Zhen’an and clear obstacles for her. Once the Male Lead appeared in the later stages, he would likely turn villainous, standing in opposition to the Male Lead and the Crown Prince.
As for the Sixth Princess.
As long as she appeared in the same place as Princess Zhen’an, she would inevitably be compared and suppressed.
Being in such an environment for a long time, she would eventually turn into a qualified Villainess Supporting Character.
In novels, the Female Lead always has to win.
So, where should I go from here?
Should I side with the Female Lead, or stay tied to the Sixth Princess?

The Palace Maid and Her Little Princess
In my third year as a palace maid, I encountered a child.
Floating above her head were the words: Villainess Supporting Character.
I wondered to myself, just how wicked could a...
