Chapter 5

I was abducted and deposited onto a bed.

Someone sat down at the bedside and hooked away the black satin covering my eyes.

My hands and feet were bound. I opened my eyes and looked over, studying him.

That person was using the black satin to cover his own eyes.

Head lowered, the corners of his lips slightly curved, he said, “I hear Madam is terribly uncanny, enough to leave every lord in the land bewitched. I would not dare let my guard down.”

Wide sleeves, white robes, an elegant, carefree air.

A half-moon jade pendant hung at his waist.

“Xie Wuyang, you believe such nonsense?”

“Is that so?”

There seemed to be a smile on his lips as he recited name after name.

“Heir Chen Yu, Marquis Cui Yao of Minzhong, Li Shan of the Southwest Army. Aren’t you afraid Xiao Quan will find out you’ve been contacting his subordinates in private?”

He had come prepared.

“Xie Wuyang, now that you have leverage over me, what do you want me to do?”

Xie Wuyang lowered his head and chuckled softly, his tone calm. “I want you… to abandon Xiao Quan and come with me. How am I any less than-”

I cut him off. “Fine. I agree.”

I agreed very readily.

Because I had long wanted to get close to Xie Wuyang.

The fact that Xie Wuyang could contend with Xiao Quan, who had the protagonist halo, proved that his strength was anything but ordinary.

If I helped him succeed and he killed Xiao Quan, then I killed him afterward, wouldn’t that accomplish my ultimate goal?

Xie Wuyang was caught off guard. “You agree?”

I shifted closer, looping my bound hands over his head and locking them around his neck.

“Why wouldn’t I? I’ve long since grown tired of Xiao Quan. On the contrary, I find you, Marquis Xie, rather intriguing.”

Xie Wuyang couldn’t see. He only gave me a light push.

But my wrists were tied, and my body lost its balance. I pitched forward and pressed him back against the headboard.

He tried to tear off the black satin, but his hand was pinned beneath my arm.

My hands were pinned behind him.

The two of us were deadlocked.

He said, “Get up first.”

Unfortunately, my hands and feet were bound, so I could only try to spring up like a carp flipping off the ground.

But I was like a fish on a chopping board, struggling in vain, smacking down onto Xie Wuyang again and again.

The tips of his ears were red enough to drip blood, and his voice was muffled as he said, “Enough. Stop flopping around.”

I was deeply embarrassed. “You’re the one who tied me up, and you’re the one who blindfolded yourself.”

Xie Wuyang lifted his chin slightly and softened his voice. “Mm. Help me first.”

He wanted me to untie the satin ribbon over his eyes first.

“No hands.”

“Use your mouth.”

“…Could you not say those two words in such an indifferent tone?”

I bit down on the black satin and slowly tugged it outward. With a flick of my head, I accidentally dropped it.

So I leaned in again.

Xie Wuyang urged me, “Can you hurry? I have an appointment with Xiao Quan.”

A pair of long, narrow peach-blossom eyes opened slightly, their gaze shimmering like green ripples.

With the black satin between my teeth, I stared at Xie Wuyang, stunned by his beauty for a moment.

He looked at me, his brows and eyes shifting subtly. His thin lips parted as he said, “All right. You can let go now. Don’t you think it’s dirty?”

I snapped back to my senses, spat several times, and spat out the black satin in my mouth.

“What time did you arrange to meet Xiao Quan? I need to leave right now.”

Xie Wuyang observed the sky, his brows tightly furrowed.

My eyelids twitched wildly.

The door was shoved open with one fierce push.

“Talking about me? I just arrived. You two seemed pretty engrossed in your fun. Only now remembered I’m not dead yet?”
